Clements Hall

Could someone describe the activity and overall structure of this hall please. Thankyou. I am very much considering attending Texas A&M next year!

I’m not a resident there (but I would LOVE to be). Hopefully a resident will come and confirm/go into more detail on this, but here’s my gist:

Clements and Lechner are incredibly well bonded. The students there call themselves the “Nerds” and wear the name proudly. The floors go to get food at the underground and eat in the halls of the dorms. They always have events going on such as holiday parties and games. Everyone knows each other and they always sit together at games (they even have their own yells and t-shirts).

Overall, if you can get into the Honors program and live in either hall, it looks like an amazing experience, I’m hoping to be accepted to Clements next year since I have qualified for the Honors program.

Thanks, Theyus!!! ^.^ That would be awesome if we wound up within the same hall! Clements and Lechner sound amazing.

Well, you’d be in Lechner if you got in, all freshmen go into Lechner.

Good Luck! Maybe I’ll see you next year!

NMSF’s are pretty much guaranteed a spot in Lechner. After that, if you have some kind of academic scholarship from the school, they fill up the rest of the available rooms. If you are familiar with the residential colleges at Rice U., the environment of Lechner is similar. There is a bonding there that you will not find at other dorms (I’m sure Clements is the same.) The week before school starts they have activities that start the bonding process. I believe their yell goes something like this: Lechner Hall we have it made, we go to school because we get paid!

And:

“THAT’S ALRIGHT! THAT’S OK! YOU’RE GUNNA WORK FOR US SOME DAY!”

Howdy! I lived in Lechner and my brother lived in Clements for several years, so here is my impression. Clements was designed to be the “upper level honors experience” as opposed to Lechner, which is all (except advisors) freshmen. Freshmen can live in Clements (right now they have a Liberal Arts Honors Learning Community, Cornerstone, living in part of it) but they are trying to make the two more distinct, and are looking into converting another dorm (McFadden) into an honors dorms as well. They are structured differently but with a similar purpose, Lechner has Sophomore Advisors and Resident Advisors while Clements has Resident Advisors and Peer Advisors. Both Peer Advisors and Sophomore Advisors are there to be supportive, help with problems, and plan dorm programming. The atmosphere at both is really highly involved, friendly, and tight-knit. Lechner is a little more energetic, for the obvious reason that it is filled with freshmen. Sophomore Advisors in Lechner also have their own “families,” which are made up of somewhere around 12 fish. SAs also plan events where the families can get together and hang out. Both are great dorms and have the best floor plan on campus (modular). If you are a freshman, you should definitely consider living in Lechner and go visit- I’m sure you will love it! Space does fill up pretty quickly there though, so if you are eligible send off your application as soon as you can! If you can’t get into Lechner, Clements is great too. Either way, you will make some good friends. If you get the chance to do a Lechner Overnight Express or visit on a National Scholar Day, do it! It is always better to experience it than just to see pictures online. :-)
