@Baxter126 Thank you for your reply. Our daughter has been accepted at other schools and I know she will end up where she is meant to be.
@PAtoSC Thank you so much for sharing that with us. Very helpful information!
@PAtoSC do students have to complete the financial aid packages to qualify for merit scholarships?
@catmomof3 I called Clemson in the late fall and the person I spoke with said we did need to send in Fafsa for scholarships.
@catmomof3 Even for just merit scholarships? I haven’t heard of any other school requiring that. FAFSA is for need-based scholarships, grants and work programs. Other schools have offered merit scholarships without this form.
@catmomof3 My daughter’s acceptance letter, like others mentioned previously, indicated she would receive some sort of scholarship (merit based) and the details would come in February. Clemson did not have any Fafsa information from us when that letter was sent. I am sure you are correct in assuming merit scholarships are not dependent upon a completed fafsa.
@mamawitch it took almost a week between the status change and the letter arriving in our box. We live in North Carolina.
Thank you @NcAb11 We are in Maine so it’ll probably take a little longer. I noticed the change Friday; hoping for a letter by the end of the week. Of coarse I’ve been home sick with nothing better to do than wait for the mail!!!
Have any of you with the “Welcome” status change checked your status recently to see if it says the same thing? My son’s changed back to unable… Just seeing if happened to anyone else.
Can you still apply to the honors college after being admitted?
@Just16sDad It looks like students who did not apply for admission early, have until February 15th to apply for the honors college. There is a whole page with Q&A and important dates posted on the Clemson Honors page.
@catmomof3 The hack worked this morning, so I am hoping she gets something in the mail within the next week. She did not hear back from the admissions office after she sent the email, so I don’t know if it is coincidental or she had been lost in the weeds a bit and the email triggered something.
@cegfraser Thank you for the nudge to check and make sure all information had been received.
@Leaddog Just checked my son’s and it still has the “Welcome” status. I’m so sorry that happened to you. What an emotional rollercoaster. As exciting as it is to see the change with the hack it’s almost harder because now I anxiously wait for the mailman everyday!! It’s been almost a week and nothing yet.
@mamawitch Thanks for responding. I’m so glad your son’s is still the same. I hope you get the envelope soon. By seeing the past posts, iIt should be today or tomorrow . Good luck!
FWIW we called and were told that there are less early acceptances this year because they were being extra careful. Assume its because they also have a higher number of applicants. We were also told our particular school was being looked at more closely because it doesn’t rank and has recently changed its weight scale. That was reassuring. Though they also mentioned something about being known for grade inflation which we aren’t sure about. It may have been a reference to understanding that difference between weighting scales. Hopefully not in reference to undeserving A.s. We do not have an acceptance or hack change yet. Would be eligible for the 15000 but understand there are never guarantees with acceptance of scholarships. Will also add that the counselor said this was their busiest time and they are getting lots of calls. @Baxter126 is correct. Wishing patience for all.
For those EA folks that haven’t been accepted yet, do you think Clemson will look at first semester grades now to make decision? I actually hope they do because it will help my son but doubt they will.
Looked at my sons “hack” last night…didnt say unable to determine acceptance status…fingers crossed
My son has a 3.73 weighted gpa after junior year but now it’s 4.0 weighted; ACT 33 (34 super score), 9 APs and lots of ECs as well as captain of xc team. He’s been diagnosed with ADHD - hence the gpa. I’m worried for him because of the lower gpa. I was so happy for him when I saw the status change - now very nervous.
@Leaddog I hope you hear good news soon.
