I just spoke with someone in admissions because my son had sent an email earlier this week and hasn’t received a response. The women I spoke to told me something interesting. She said they just found out in a meeting yesterday that they are doing something new this year where they are offering students with slightly lower stats admission for summer session in order to get better antiquated with college courses. Sounds promising for those that don’t have off the chart stats
@Leaddog Clemson does not have EA. When you hear back is not tied to when your applications was submitted. You must apply before December 15th to be considered for Scholarships and to ensure you receive a decision by February 15th, but this is different from EA as it it known at other schools. Just clarifying for anyone interested.
@Just16sDad You can still apply to the honors college, however it would be a very limited number of acceptances offered then since most apply by Dec 1 and hear on February 15th. Always worth a try, but you can also apply once you are at Clemson and be in by second semester if accepted.
@Tuxrd2 Glad you got that information. Thank you for posting. This has been their process for years. They absolutely are able to evaluate your student according to their school, the opportunities it has, and the school profile, and the strength of school. This is exactly the reason guidance counselors send in school profiles along with transcripts. Rest assured if your school doesn’t rank, has a very small class, a very competitive class, or even if you’re a homeschooler, Clemson knows how to evaluate your student appropriately.
Although, I haven’t seen many (if any) January acceptances go out, Feb 15th is less than a month away! Hang in there!
@leaddog I called admissions to ask this earlier in the week and they told me they only look at the initial transcript. However, I intend on having my sons guidance counselor send in my sons fall transcript update anyway, as it also helps his case. Can’t hurt!
@Tuxrd2 @Baxter126 Thanks for the info. I wonder why a change in the weighting scale would matter to a college if they recalculate the GPA based on their formula. I am trying to resist even trying the hack anymore…

@Leaddog Sorry no I don’t know how specifically Clemson recalculates GPA. Speaking generally a lot of schools use only core classes and then assign their weight to the grades - In Florida (state schools) they don’t pay attention to +/-, just the letter grade and add .5 for honors and 1 for AP. I have read where UGA only adds extra weight to AP not honors - just not sure how Clemson does it.

@2019stu I was told they don’t recalculate but they pay a lot of attention to class rank. So for a school that doesn’t rank they have to find other data to compare one student to the next.

I pray that you are right and that ALL of our children end up in the place where they will be happy and flourish. Praying for the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. 
How important is class rank? My daughter has low class rank but 4.0 (w) and 32/33 ACT in state…APs many ECs etc. wondering if low rank due to frosh and Sophia year will hold her back?

My status got changed!!! Hopefully I get my orange envelope in the next week or two! I live in MA for anyone wondering.
