Clemson Admissions - Class of 2023 DISCUSSION

Got it! In south Florida

Nothing in today’s mail. The wait continues…

Still nothing in Illinois! This is so insane she applied 8/1/18 and we didn’t hear by 2/15/19 like they promised! And of course admissions office is already closed by the time my mail arrived. This process is so stressful not sure why we have to go through this long drawn out process.

@lcnova3 you have some great choices, so you will need to decide what school has the best overall fit for you. My friend is at Kelly and LOVES it. Nova is much smaller, and well USC is a beautiful campus with great weather, but lower ranked. I’d probably chose Clemson if it was me, but I’m still waiting to hear and will decide with similar choices as you, including UMD and Miami.

@DownShoreNJ what list is that from?

@lynbrd1 We are in Illinois and still nothing for us, either. My son applied end of September…I agree on the stress!! :((

Nothing in NY

Packet received in CT!

I think it has more to do with schools/majors than location. But clearly I’m just guessing.

@sageorge we are also in upstate and nothing in the mail today! I even asked our mailman if he had seen any Clemson acceptance packets around our area lately and he said NO lol. I think they sent them by zip code or something haha.

Has anyone in Tennessee received Clemson packet/letter?

Just looked at Clemson’s Instagram page. There was an “Inside Clemson” video that said “Tigertown Bound letters were sent to accepted students.” Posted 6 hours ago. Wonder if that means that rejection letters will come later. This is quite stressful.

Ok… has anyone who checked the hack and registered for an accepted student day received the acceptance email?

@vamom4 was her letter sent regular mail or priority?

VAMOM4
Sorry your daughter was not accepted. But happy she has other great choices.

We are in Michigan, no letter. Hacks did not work. So expecting denial. We too feel your pain of having your daughter attend a highly competitive high school and have it used against you. In addition, our school.does not even rank. Last year 98% graduates attended college.

I contacted the admissions office today to express our frustration with their notification process and made sure they are aware of the hack situation. They are aware and claim they may switch to portal notifications next year. I hope so.

Congrats to all admitted!

Denied here in MD.

Are acceptances sent priority mail? and rejections regular?

@DCNatFan was yours sent regular mail?

@preppy123 Yes.

@preppy123 You asked “was her (denial) letter sent regular mail or priority?”

Regular mail. Letter specifically says: “Admission to Clemson is based primarily upon the combined strength of an applicant’s academic record and standardized test scores.”

Since her rigor, GPA and SAT are right where they should be, we feel it was her rank that prevented admission. Which is silly because they should be able to better see the difference between high schools. She would be top 20% at literally any other high school in this county. And even when compared to last year’s class, her current mid-year GPA which puts her in the 25th percentile would have been 20th percentile in last year’s class.

@rcsc0285 Yes, Clemson seems to be very adamant about class rank which I think is not necessarily in their best interest. My other daughter was accepted last year. She had 1420 SAT, 4.3 weighted GPA, average extracurriculars and was ranked about top 15%. But again. Competitive high school. So, instead of a $15k scholarship, she got $7500, purely based on rank. Clemson’s loss: She went elsewhere and has made Dean’s List for her first semester and is happy, earning a BBA AND a BS.

I completely understand where you are coming from. my OOS white male is still waiting for his decision. 31 ACT 4.12 gpa (not the best but decent). 7 AP classes (3 passed already with good scores) and most other classes are honors. Two varsity sports, volunteer work etc. He is not in the top 25% of his class. Very competitive public high school. I am anticipating a denial based on trying the “hack” without it recognizing his cuid and not receiving anything in the mail or email today. I was surprised at some high school rankings with lower stats and few AP classes. Either way Just remember of our kids are very smart and all parents should be proud whether they get in or not.
