There were no shuttles from the GSP airport to Clemson. I wrote one company and they didn’t respond, so I suppose they only operate during peak times. We rented a car using my husband’s discount, which was cheaper than taking an Uber both ways.
I’ve read that students can sign up for very reasonable airport shuttles during holiday times, though whether they work out with their flights I don’t know.
A drive from NJ is 12 hrs, so I’m hoping to limit those! This will be an adventure, for sure!
For students at breaks the school has free shuttles to and from GSP and Charlotte. Two other times I arranged for her to take a shuttle to/from her dorm to GSP for about $75 each work. The company is http://www.airportshuttleclemson.com. They seemed to be reliable based on our limited experience.
For anyone still waiting to hear a decision from the waitlist, my son heard from the admissions office yesterday. The email said that the freshman class is at full capacity but they could offer him a spot in the bridge program. He declined as he has already committed to the University of Georgia. Hope this information helps anyone who is still waiting. Best of luck to everyone!
@mjk14312 My son got the same email yesterday. Looks like they are taking applicants from the waitlist into the Bridge program. Unfortunately, my son’s desired major is one of six closed majors, which means acceptance into that major in his sophomore year isn’t guaranteed. He’d have to select a different major, then reapply to his desired major as a transfer student. He has committed to Indiana University. At least the wait is finally over. Best of luck to all!
@RMSqueencat My son’s major was also a closed one (sports communications) they offered him pre-business in the Bridge, but it wasn’t what he was looking for. I wish your son all the best at Indiana!
@sunnyschool - They are: Communications, Nursing, Production Studies (Audio Tech concentration which was my son’s intended major;) Health Sciences, PRTM (PGA Golf Management concentration,) and Sports Communications. Sorry for the late reply.
Just got letter today admitted for spring semester in general engineering ( not fall as applied ) . Was on waitlist . Thought would be rejection letter so open your mail just in case. Son 4.48 wgpa. 30 act . oos. Thought we should have had a scholarship based on last years stats but think they changed this year. So nice offer but no scholarship . Son is off to Ohio State. Good luck everyone.
Just got offered a spot off the waitlist for the spring semester in my 2nd choice major (pre-bus). I applied for communications (not knowing it was a closed major) as my first choice, but Im now actually more interested in business, anyway.
Clemson was my first choice school, but Im not sure it would be easy to come in the middle of the year. I feel like people already (some-what) have friend groups by then, and I would miss out on fall sorority rush. Im worried I will struggle socially, especially from OOS. Im really not sure what to do. Id honestly maybe even prefer Bridge if it meant I could start in fall, though I am grateful they gave me this option at least.
Hi- my daughter is in the same position and we are out of state. Clemson is her number 1 choice and after much debating, chose to accept the spring offer to be where she wants to be in the end. We figured there would be others accepting in spring so I’m sure she will not be alone. Chigirl22- If you do choose to accept and want to connect, please let me know and i’ll provide my daughter’s info.
Hey momx2girls (and anyone else) - my son is in the same situation, oos and received the spring start offer, he’s strongly considering it. I’m wondering if you have found any additional info about it or have talked to anyone at Clemson about it? He’s interested in learning more about how the housing and roommate thing works, given the second semester start. And, is there any type of orientation offered. Any additional info is appreciated.
I haven’t received much info from Clemson. I reached out a couple times with questions and got some general answers. I was told that I didn’t have to leave a deposit yet and that they would be reaching out around September with more info to get all signed up. My daughter will be going to local community college for the fall and I did ask about how classes tranferred. I was referred to Clemson website and told to type transfer equivalency in the search bar. It will pull up a list by college of classes and if it will transfer. There is an orientation for spring but it is basically right before they begin classes. There is another thread on this forum called ‘january 2020’. I was able to connect with someone on there who started this spring- she had great honest info on the process and was very helpful. From what I gather, Clemson will reach out regarding housing somewhere September- November to tell you where rooms are available. So it sounds like you will be able to share your preferences and have some choice on dorm, but no real choice on roommate. If your son decides to attend, just let me know if you want to share contact info. maybe at least a few of them can start talking so they will know someone when they get there!
Would anyone on this thread who’s attending Clemson this Fall or who’s child started this Fall care to provide feedback on how the year is going? Was Clemson the right decision? Especially those who did TTSB or Bridge…
How do your triplets like Clemson? @4n2yrs. My daughter applied for 2024 class and Clemson is her #1 choice. You give hope to the parents that Clemson does accept students with GPAs of under a 4.0+ and lower SAT/ACT scores not in the top percentile. My daughters stats are similar to your triplets. She currently has above a 3.5 W taking IB class this yr and has had a few AP and honors classes in the past. She’s always done very well in all of her classes. I wish Clemson Superscored the ACT because that would put her at a better advantage. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they see how well rounded a student she is?? Thank you again for giving hope?
Hello!!! Matt, Andrew and Molly positively LOVE Clemson!!! They really are so happy with their decisions. Other than parking and a few complaints about the cafeteria food, they are overjoyed!!! They definitely made the right choice for them!!! Thank so much for asking.
Try to stay positive and best of luck to your DD!!!
Did anyone on this thread pay the $200 deposit before 2/1 and before they knew how much merit aid (not financial aid) they were getting? Wondering if you might end up with less merit money if they know you’re coming either way?!?
