Just FYI in case anyone is interested, today the Clemson president announced he’s retiring effective Dec 31.
My son is a current freshman and I have no opinion either way re: the President. He seems like a nice guy, but I don’t really know anything good or bad. I’m just crossing fingers that whatever the process for hiring a new President is, that it goes smoothly and quickly.
I saw that news and wondered what kind of upheaval that might mean. Maybe not much of an impact of students?
I’m hoping it’s not much impact. I do think a new president can set a tone or change a focus for a school, but that takes time to happen. I’d imagine that while they are in the search process and the first few months at least of a new person’s time that it sort of works like when any boss is gone - people just keep the trains running and doing all the regular things in a status quo kind of way.
Clemson has risen dramatically in stature this past decade - selectivity, geographic diversity and more. One would assume he played a huge hand.
Hopefully for the school, they get more of the same
