Yes - D20 also accepted to Calhoun. She was rejected the next day from U of SC honors so this definitely puts Clemson higher on her list! Yesterday she joined a 2024 students FB page and an HC group chat to try and get a better feel for things.
@BlockMI Honors gives you a couple of great advantages. First you kid gets to live in the honors dorm in what used to be called Core (someone now payed money to have their names on the dorms) which are very nice first opened in 2015 or so. These dorms also house the honors college classrooms and offices. The other advantage is the honors students get to pick there classes before their other class members. So in other wards Freshman class selection is Honor first and then all other freshman.
I would note there is a $500 a semester additional charge for honors students.
My daughter is currently a sophomore doing the whole honors thing and has really liked it.
@mebmama Did you say there’s an Honors group chat? My daughter is on the FB page and finding some great people, but I don’t think she’s hooked into a group chat yet. That would be nice.
Yes! I asked D20 tonight and she said someone had posted a link to the HC chat on that FB page. She says there is lots of roommate chatter happening on both sites for those who might be looking!
Sorry to hear that @drew02. Thank you. I know you have been very candid and I commend you on your maturity. Whatever college you choose will be lucky to have you
Well, he hasn’t been accepted there, yet, but it is high on his list. He’ll be waiting until he hears from WashU and Vanderbilt to decide, and also has Clemson and Penn State. My comment was because I knew that @drew02 was also waiting on VT acceptance this week.
@Sunshinerules Did your son find the Honors College group chat? My daughter somehow found it, so maybe he can just search for it. It seems to be an active group with good discussion.
