@drewh02 VT needs to hurry up so he can decide. Right now clemson is top choice. Driving me nuts!
Agreed. Hopefully they release EA decisions a bit early like they did for ED.
Congratulations to all those accepted! My son was accepted into pre-business and will be deciding soon among Clemson and 2 other schools. My question relates to a post by @Their_Momma earlier in this thread. Is there anyone who has any experience and opinions of the Business LLC (CUBS) that is offered for freshmen? Anyone who has information from a student who has experienced CUBS would be very helpful as we consider housing! Thank you!
My daughter received an email today that she is a finalist for Lyceum. She is super excited!
Has anyone called the financial aid office RECENTLY to see what the OOS merit levels are for Class of 2024? Are people assuming the levels are the same as last year (with the highest award at $20,000/year)? My husband called in November and the numbers they gave him then were the same as Class of 2023, but I am curious if they will change or not. @86grad or @burghdad do you happen to know?
I am assuming the levels are the same, but the cutoff SAT scores may change. My son was right on the edge, so I’m waiting to confirm which side of that he lands.
@jellyobrien My son has applied for housing in terms of paying the $150 and starting the profile. What about yours?
It means that person has replied to posts…not that there are specific replies to that comment.
We are paying our twins tomorrow!
@jse1820 @HokieCrazy They updated the NPC a couple of weeks ago; however, I don’t think they will confirm the amounts are finalized until award notifications are sent.
Any updates on when Clemson will notify us on financial aid and scholarships? They said February 2020 but I haven’t heard anything yet.
@jellyobrien I have been checking iRoar periodically; on Sunday, under the “select aid year” dropdown in the financial aid section of the portal the most recent available year was 2019-2020. As of yesterday, this changed to 2020-2021, so I am hoping it has implications of receiving our reward letters sooner rather than later.
Thanks @drewh02, if you pay the enrollment deposit does that mean you finalize the acceptance?
@jellyobrien Legally, you are not finalizing the acceptance. However, the deposit, at least for the majority of US schools, is non-refundable, so if you do pay the enrollment deposit and then back out, you will not be seeing that money again.
@drewh02 , you are so helpful. Clemson should hire you to work their blogs! If my son gets into honors, we will definitely have to get you 2 in touch. He is planning to live in Honors dorm. When do you decide if Clemson is your school? Seems VT is your #1 since you are from there?
@130happymom Thank you! I just do my best to research sufficiently everything I am interested in. UVA was my #1, but as I was deferred, I will be waiting quite a while (mid-March) to hear back regarding my decision. Tech should be coming out within the next week, based on their Early Decision notifications, so I plan on re-evaluating my situation then. I am also awaiting my financial aid award and Calhoun decision from Clemson, which are fairly large factors in the decision-making process for me.
My son is in the same boat, except Texas instead of UVA. Fingers crossed. Might want to discuss with you your decision process if you and my son are in the same boat. Good luck!!
@HokieCrazy I will certainly be open to doing so! Good luck to your son!
Calhoun Honors is out!!!
Son accepted to Honors. Website is pretty vague about what that means. Can anyone with experience point me to more insight? Or provide your thoughts on positives and negatives? Would appreciate any help here. He is struggling with decision. Would love some insider thoughts.
