I said, “Could you tell me if EA decisions come out today?” She said, “No, they don’t. They will be coming out mid-December.” I said, “oh, so like the end of next week, Thursday or Friday?” She said, “somewhere around there, yes”
Obv I know that’s what they have been saying all along; I just wanted to hear a definite no on today so we can let it go and enjoy the weekend.
I’m a sophomore at Clemson who closely monitored any changes in the portal to predict when decisions were coming out during my year, and the portal updated at 6pm exactly and the email that said there was a status update came 20ish minutes after that.
My older son is currently a junior at Clemson and during his admission cycle, there was no notice about when decisions were coming. No instagram posts, etc. Lots of guesswork even on the day they came out about whether it was happening. They came out that year on February 15, 2021 at exactly 6pm. I think that right about the time they came out, they did put out a social media post and then an email followed – but there was definitely no advance notice. We were wondering until the moment his portal updated whether the decisions would be out that day. I wish schools would just be open and transparent about the date. I don’t know why so many of them play coy about it, it makes no sense to me.
I think its more about protecting themselves if something goes wrong. If they never announce it then they can easily push it till the next day or week and we would be none the wiser.
I also have a current Clemson student and one who applied for Fall 24. My student at Clemson received acceptance in December on a random mid week evening. Other kids at the high school got them randomly in November, January and February. This is only the second year with early decisions for Clemson, but honestly it’s still the same as before. A relatively small number of kids will actually be accepted this month and many will be deferred until March. Clemson is notorious for not communicating the ‘when’ which is incredibly aggravating compared to other schools who are transparent (here’s looking at you, UGA!). It should be this week but we likely won’t know until our kid randomly checks their email one evening.
We know a few students from our HS that were accepted right away last December 1 and then 3 or 4 others who were deferred then accepted roughly early March. I’d like to think the “extra” two weeks they’ve given themselves this year will lend to less deferments and more acceptances . Word on the street is we will all be finding out this week. Good luck all! The wait is certainly causing loads of anxiety in this house .
