Clemson University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

I was just trying to be encouraging to those that didn’t. Especially bc we fully expected to be deferred until “buttongate”

Yeah!! I’m so glad she got in. I was watching for it last night, because Of her cheering late last night. So excited for her tell her congratulations!

Don’t forget to order or pick up (if you’re close enough) the Tigertown bound class of 28 yard sign from Clemson alumni!!! We are not they are shipping it! Congrats again to all new tigers!

Yes - Alabama is very generous with scholarship offerings for OOS students.

Are they already available? We are about 35-40 minutes away so going to drive and get ours. And do you know who we contact to go get one so I can figure out where we need to go?

D accepted OOS with scholarship
4.58 weighted GPA with 9 APs
1480 SAT submitted
Engineering major
extracurriculars with leadership and presidential volunteer service award.
Buttons had disappeared a while ago.

Sending positive vibes to all no matter the outcome. Such a difficult process.

I’ve been curious, did your child have classes over 4th of July week? Or was it a break?

They had them in the visitors center last year. Co grata on the acceptance!!!

Pretty sure only had the 4th off, and class all week. Some professors may cancel a class the day before or after, but otherwise class is in session.

If they did use this metric, it is ridiculous. No way to accurately measure top 10% in one high school versus another; too many variables.

Exactly. And with USC this year giving auto acceptance for top 10% is crazy because one schools top 10% is way different than anothers.

What info should be included in the defer update form? I’ve never had to do one of these before.

Very excited, but crossing all fingers and toes for U of SC today. It does seem like class rank played a big role. She knows of one other admit at her HS and he was top 15%. Everyone else was deferred. Lots of deferrals. Hoping class rank also very important to U of SC! Congrats to all the new Tigers!

My OOS Daughter was accepted with academic scholarship.

For those deferred, our counselor (in one of top private schools in GA) said all but 1 of our students got deferred. The one that got in has a brother at Clemson. The deferred are high performers who got EA at UGA, GA Tech, and one at Vanderbilt. He said they were overwhelmed and simply didn’t get to review all applicants yet. Our school has a lot of Clemson admits each year. So be positive and patient if Clemson is your #1 choice.

Hope not as that is such a variable metric to look at based on school, class size, and student body competitiveness. Hopeful U of SC looks at other factors to the many here on this thread who were deferred using that as a stat.

My son was accepted. It was a reach school for him and I’m seeing his stats were not at strong as others on here. Still provided a solid application. and he submitted his application VERY early
GPA 4.2 weighted
6 AP classes (AP scores of 4 in the ones that he has taken so far)
High Course Rigor
Varsity athlete
Over a hundred volunteer hours as a youth soccer coach
Submitted test scores even though I told him not to (27 ACT 1180 SAT, so def weak scores)
Amazingly creative essay
OOS, North Carolina
Declared major as secondary education (i think this helped him as a male applying to education major)

I’ve been lurking on this thread for weeks but wanted to drop a note of thanks for all of the information that has been and continues to be shared.

That said…exciting news hit our son’s inbox last night….accepted to Business.

Instate, 4.6 W, Top 15% in one of the largest schools in SC, 29 ACT, 5 APs, 3DEs, 8 Varsity letters, tons of other ECs, PT jobs, etc

Now the decision making begins as that also accepted to; Auburn, Baylor, Ole Miss (Honors) & South Carolina

Waiting to hear from Georgia and Tennessee.

Glad it it’s his decision and not mine. Most importantly…the buttons disappeared last week. LOL
