Clemson University Early Action for Fall 2025 Admissions

My student submitted 8/2 but hasn’t received info to set up portal. Today she received an email that SRAR hasn’t been submitted/linked. Have others received portal access?

S25 received the email about the SRAR not being linked, and then the next day, he received the email to set up the portal. But in the email about the SRAR, there was a way to link to the portal, and he was able to set it up that way even before the set-up email.

Did your student submit via Common App or Clemson’s app? I ask because my S25 submitted using Clemson’s app on 8/1 and was able to complete everything easily. He submitted to another school using common app and it took almost 3 weeks for the school to download. If yours used common app, maybe there’s just a delay. Your student can always email or call the school directly. They’re super helpful! My son had a question and they replied to his email quickly.

D25 used the Clemson app. It was so quick (less than 15 minutes) and her SRAR and scores were linked by morning, even though it said it may take up to two days.
She will be using the Common App to submit two more apps in the next few days. Will see if it’s as fast.

I applied test optional last fall as an OOS. Top 5%, 3.9 unweighted, 4.4 weighted, travel club sports, applied as a Psych major, and was admitted with a $6,000 merit scholarship.

How many of you have gone through this college app process before with another child? Our first time. I’m not stressed (yet), but so much has changed since I went to college! I don’t understand why they have to choose a major right away and have a limited # of spots. I preferred when kids took 2 years of general classes and figured it out along the way. So many things to figure out in that first year!
D25 said Clemson became her first choice yesterday. She’s following their Instagram and they have some great things going on for the incoming freshman.

First experience for us too! My S25 loved Clemson after visiting, but is relaxed about it all. I’m trying to follow his lead. He’s researched several schools online and said he’ll be happy wherever he gets in. (hopefully that’s true) I think he plans to apply to 5 or 6 schools total.

This child is my second applying (my older is a current college junior). It seems like the “must know your major” really applies mostly to majors that have some kind of resource limitation (like nursing and architecture have specialized equipment needs) and others seem limited to make sure that really popular majors don’t get so oversubscribed that there aren’t enough professors or kids can’t get into classes (that seems more the case with things like computer science majors).

There are definitely schools out there where you don’t have to commit to a major or even really know one when you apply, but I agree, that feels a lot less common now than it was back in the day.

Anyone send official scores to Clemson but they aren’t showing in their portal? ACT sent scores over 10 days ago but they aren’t showing in his portal. He sent an email but wondering if this is common.

You can specify “undeclared” on the Clemson app. Mine is also unsure of major so we put the more competitive major as #1 and #2 as a backup. Our third going to college, but first to apply to Clemson and so much has changed in the past few years …

I talked to Clemson admissions last month, they said they are moving away from housing determined by date of application and the new system will be announced in October. It may be that they determine housing based on date of deposit. It would make sense - I don’t believe they have had EA for too many years. Housing date based on application submission date may have made sense without an EA system to encourage submitting early, but with EA (and a universal acceptance date for EA) it would seem logical to move housing to accepting the spot/deposit date. But who knows, sometimes information is widely different between admissions reps on the phone.

When we visited campus for a tour this past Spring, they were very clear that housing would be determined by the date of application. Maybe they’ve changed their process. Would be curious to hear from anyone that toured in person recently. I agree it makes more sense to base it on date of deposit though.

I hope it’s still that way. My son busted his butt to get it in right away because we were told by his AO that it was done that way.

That was us too. He worked hard to get it in early for the housing bump. If the deposit isn’t an insane amount, I guess we could just put it down and then forfeit if he ends up deciding Clemson isn’t right (he’s got two majors he’s interested in, Clemson only offers one of them. As the year goes on I think it’s reasonable that the other major could end up being what he wants more, but we may not know that for a while.)

I can’t imagine Clemson is going to change the policy for this year.

My S25 also prepared this summer so he could submit 8/1 based on what he was told during the tour. Either way, I’m glad he got it submitted early.

Yes, this is very true. I’m glad he’s done with the application, regardless. One less thing to worry about or work on right now.

Yes, this is true. It’s nice having some applications done.

this is my second time through the college app process and our first one is attending Clemson as a sophomore (OOS). I think engineering is fairly competitive for acceptance, so if your child’s heart is set on that, they would want to apply into it, because transferring later would be more difficult. Most other majors can likely be switched before or after enrollment, although I must admit I’m mainly familiar with the STEM reputations at Clemson. I believe Clemson has an option for selecting a 2nd choice major. Doing a minor is another strategic option. Happy to answer questions about my S23 experience-
