Cliffnotes AP Environmental Science Thoughts?

Hi all,
I’ll be self studying ap environmental sciene this year for a 5.
i was looking over books and i saw this
[Amazon.com: CliffsNotes AP Environmental Science with CD-ROM (9780470889770): Kevin Bryan, Jennifer L. Sutton, James R. Centorino: Books](http://www.amazon.com/CliffsNotes-AP-Environmental-Science-CD-ROM/dp/0470889772/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1310529361&sr=8-10)
its the cliffnotes ap enviro book
im thinking it’ll be good because the ap bio one is good
which books will you all be using for enviro to safely get a 5 besides smartypants?
flashcards?
pr?
5 steps to a 5?

I was about to tell you to look at the Amazon reviews but they are all screwed up … rofl.

I doubt anyone has used it since the book hasn’t even been released yet. You can only pre-order it on Amazon right now.

I guess it couldn’t hurt for you to order it - Amazon has a good return policy.

ahahah yeah thats why i was confused too…its all about a camera…nice.
what did everyone else use for enviro?

I self-studied APES this year and got a 5. I didn’t study that much either. I suggest you get Princeton Review for AP Environmental Science. It really has all the information you need to get a 5. Honestly I didn’t use a textbook and crammed solely with Princeton Review for about 2 weeks before the exam. I really didn’t use any other study guides and I found Princeton Review to be very helpful. Also AP environmental science test wasn’t too bad because a good amount of it is common sense that you learn or hear about from news, books, schools etc. I don’t know too much about Cliff’s for APES, but I do know it is great for AP Bio. But you can’t assume it is good for APES as well.I tried to use Barrons but Barrons was TOO LONG! Barron’s was more like a text-book. Similarly with 5 steps to a 5, I think both Barrons and 5 steps to a 5 OVER PREPARES you. If you memorize like every detail in Barron’s/5 Steps to a 5 you most likely can guarantee a 5( don’t quote me on that). If you have a lot of time and nothing else to do then go ahead and read through Barron’s or 5 steps. However I think those books have excess information, but like I said if you do use those books you can probably will get a 5. I just think that is too much effort to get a 5. IMO PR is concise and has everything you need to know to get a 5.

^That’s reassuring. I am self-studying as well and will use PR. I don’t know much about Cliffs either except for Bio, but PR has such high recommendations that I’ll just use that.

There is a Crash Course book coming out for AP Environmental.

[Amazon.com: AP Environmental Science Crash Course (9780738609317): Gayle Evans: Books](http://www.amazon.com/AP-Environmental-Science-Crash-Course/dp/0738609315/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312321928&sr=8-1)

Can one person get the CliffsAP book, and another get the Crash Course book? I’d love to see how the two newest contenders stack up :).

Don’t assume just because the Bio one for cliffs is really good, that the es will be too. They have diff. authors.

I used PR to self-study and got a 4 so its doable ( idk why… i thought it was easy and thought i would get a 5 fo’ sho’ but oh well haha)

yeah guys thanks for all the input
however, i really dont wanna end up in that situation where your reading only princeton but only end up with a 4. cause i would hate to retake an exam so i mean is pr really all you need? and i will be taking 12 ap exams next year so i mean i dont have the time to do over prepping for an unimportant exam.

I just went to Barnes and Noble, and there were copies of the CliffsNotes AP Environmental Science on the shelves!

I flipped through the book. It seemed nice - there were a lot of diagrams, charts, and tables. There were also 3 practice tests. There were also chapter quizzes.

I can’t really comment on the content - I haven’t taken the AP Environmental exam yet.

But if anyone wants to take a look at the book, please do so! You can check the availability of the book at your local Barnes and Noble here (just type in your zip code :)):

And oh yeah, bluedevils31, is your name a reference to Duke University? And 12 APs? Holy crap! Good luck on all of them :). What APs are you taking?

Words of Wisdom. I too studied with PR for about a month before the test and got a 5. I only use PR, but the most helpful indicator had to be released tests. They do reuse a few questions from time to time. Also, print out ALL the FRQs and work on them from time to time, they help with MC and you can practice FRQs too

Below is Chapter 1 from the Cliffs AP Environmental Science book. It seems very thorough!

http://media.wiley.com/product_data/excerpt/56/04708897/0470889756-207.pdf</a></p>

And here is the table of contents. I’m very intrigued by the “Case Studies” section and the “Labs” section. Perhaps the most intriguing though is the section titled “Analysis of Past Exams”!

Remember guys, the Cliffs book is currently in bookstores! Make sure to check it out! I will ASAP :)!
