Clinical experience... is it too late?

So I have just begun my junior year and my fall semester is already looking pretty busy (5 courses, a decent commitment to various ECs, and hopefully finding time to continue research from last summer).

I know that clinical experience is EXTREMELY important for med school admission, but if i start in the SPRING and maybe continue in the summer (while also working in a lab), is this enough experience to apply in '08? Yes, med schools want to see passion/commitment, but what if you’re just a leetle short on time? Are you screwed? I know that this is the kind of question that admissions committees hate and think shows a lack of commitment, but what is the minimum amount of clinical experience one can get away with?

No, not really. Clinical experience is one of the few places where just being able to check off the box is more important than where/how much you did in doing so. Obviously more is better, but starting late and continuing through your junior and senior year is sufficient. The biggest thing is that you are able to talk about what your experiences and how you’ve learned from them.
