<p>hi, i am an accepted student @ umass amherst class of 2014. my family and i are going on the accepted students day, and i was wondering where is the closest shopping mall (not outlet) to umass?</p>

<p>At the intersection of Rt. 9 and N. Maple Street, you’ll find 2 adjacent malls. There you will find a Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Trader Joe’s and dozens of other popular stores. It is less than a 10 minute drive from campus.</p>
<p>The Holyoke Mall is the nearest “real” mall. It is a good 20 minute ride, just North of Springfield off of Route 91.</p>
<p>Northampton has some great stores and shops. It is on the bus line, but not too far from Amherst.</p>
<p>The malls that davidwes is referring to are the Hampshire Mall and the adjacent strip mall that’s across the street from it (I’m not sure if it has a name). These malls are helpful if you need to pick something up real quick.</p>
<p>The Holyoke Mall is the biggest mall I’ve ever been to in my life. Go there if you want to do some serious shopping.</p>
