closet modular systems?

Anyone have advice or recs on these? California Closets look so nice but they’re pricey. Looks like there are other companies that do them but I don’t know how good they are?

We are very happy with our new Elfa system from the Container Store

I love Elfa closets. I put them everywhere in our last house and did all the installation myself. When we built our new house, the builder had something similar to California Closets put in. I really think I would have preferred Elfa again because they are more flexible as my needs change. Depending on design choices, elfa can get pretty expensive so wait for a sale.

Plus three on Elfa. We gave them the measurements and our requirements and they sold us all the pre-cut and packaged elements. DH and I installed it in our large closet in one day. It was actually pretty fun. If you are looking at this, be sure to consider the drawers. DH likes the sliding pants hangers. I prefer hangers.

Look at your small local options. Our contractor recommended a local closet company that ended up being cheaper than elfa, california closet and the likes, with better quality.

I’m not sure how much money you would like to spend or how handy you are.

My husband is very handy and an engineer so he’s good at planning things out.

We decided to go with closet culture that we bought at Menards. We have his and hers small walk in closets. Closet culture has tracks that you install and then customize what components to put in. I think they have a pre laid out option also that you can buy. They sell this brand at Lowe’s also but we found the best selection at Menards.

It’s a wire system, not wood but we felt that it gave us more options to change thing if we wanted to in the future.

We spent $350 instead of the 1000+ that California Closets or the Container Store was estimating. That is per small walk in closet.

California Closets did mine, but I had a very specific look I was going for that couldn’t be replicated with anything we could find DIY.

They are expensive, but we are not handy so felt it better left to the professionals.

Ikea has really nice looking systems too.

We did our closets shortly after we bought this house 12 years ago (!!!) The closets had those closetmaid wire things at the time. Wife HATED those things! She also hates particleboard, and all of the closet designer/providers used some variation of laminate on particle board. Wife wanted real wood. The only one we found at the time was John Louis Home (Easy to find with google). I installed it all myself. There was a bit of a learning curve, and by the time I finished I felt like going into the installation business. We have been very happy with out closet, now, 12 years later.

Love, love, love our Elfa! Our old house we only did a pantry and garage, so were excited to do more in our downsided townhome. As the builder only put it one rod in the closet, we told then to leave it out and designed with Elfa, along with our pantry. We have always found the people at the Container Store to be most helpful; the systems also easy to installing.

When my son and DIL moved into their home, we gifted them with Elfa for their large laundry room for storage. While my husband and I designed the space, as we had the experience, along with someone at the store, my son reviewed the drawings. While my DIL is not as enamored with what she refers to as her own personal Costco, my son loves the shelving! Floor to high ceiling storage for everything.

My daughter and SIL just moved into their first home this weekend. My husband offered Elfa for them when they are ready. Hopefully we can do it during the 30% off sale!
