Closures

The Wednesday closure came super late, almost midnight. The Thursday closure came much earlier, just after dinner time. If they’re gonna close tomorrow (the weather where I live is just getting worse) how soon will they tell us?

They will tell…when they feel like it. I know, it sucks! But shutting down the University is a big deal and so understandably, it takes serious deliberation.

The weather should be good enough tomorrow to let school start up again. I kind of want another snow day though. Haha.

It doesn’t matter to me, I don’t have class on Fridays :P

Seattle: Both classes and normal operations are suspended for Friday, Jan. 20. Essential personnel only report to work.

Bothell: Classes and campus operations, including the Eastside Leadership Center, are canceled for Friday, Jan. 20.

Library services: Most library services are available online.

Tuition deadline extended: The deadline for students to pay their tuition and fees has been extended to Jan. 27

Thanks travelgirl. I came on here to share that too.

I try not to have classes on Fridays, but I have quiz sections. lol

I take 1 online and 2 in person classes…and I was lucky enough to get a T, Th only schedule :D

1st quarter where I don’t have a friday class though…so nice (even though i spend it studying)

I have class every day. I have one class which is daily and then I have classes which are M&W and T&T with Friday Quiz section.

I hate the online class I took (Statistics). How do you like it?

Xavi, do you mean QSci 381?

“Tuition deadline extended: The deadline for students to pay their tuition and fees has been extended to Jan. 27”

But on my tuition statement, the deadline is still Jan. 20. Which one should I trust? Maybe they have not been able to update the online tuition statement because of the closure. However, I was thinking of submitting the tuition today, just to be on the safe side.

What are you guys doing in regards to submitting your Winter quarter tuition?

I’ve taken online classes both at SCCC & UW. I liked all the ones at SCCC…but at UW, I hated the one last quarter, but I love the one this quarter.

It just depends on who the teacher is, like with normal classes. The teacher I had last quarter…had assignments/quizzes/tests that were based off of a different textbook she had used previously and had not assigned us. (In fact, she admitted she had never before read the textbook she had assigned to us) The textbook she had assigned us even used different terminology for the same thing. Even though we complained something was off, she only figured it out 3/4 of the quarter through. She said there was no adequate way to assess what we really knew, so just curved our grades by .1 :expressionless: I think with an online class, it might be easier for a teacher to be lazy and overlook details like textbook differences then in person.

The class I have this quarter is really cool though. The teacher is really organized & detail orientated, replies to emails within an hour or so, the lectures were recorded from a in person class she taught before (looks like summer), and the readings and assignments all tie in to each other. Totally different experience then last quarter.

sgcore: if you can afford to pay your tuition today, why would you wait?
If you can’t afford it (or need to drop it off in person or whatever) then submit it when you can and take a screen shot of the status alert message in case there are problems later.

As far as what I did, I’m on a full merit based scholarship that pays for pretty much everything (except like the fee for my online class…which i paid when i first got the bill)
