Do most undergrads have time to participate in clubs?

short answer: yes

yes...unless you're and overachieving, anti-social hermit.

yes, plenty of time, and its the best way to get to know people who have the same interests as you

Oh yeah, plenty of time, don't worry about that at all. Of course, I am an antisocial hermit but whatever.

yes, and you should. I would recommend not trying to join too many, but rather joining a couple and getting to know the people in them (instead of kinda knowing people from 8 things).

Do you have to have done the activity before to join a club or can you join out of sheer interest?

Good point. You're there to find people with similar interests, not to join as many clubs as possible anyway.

Most clubs will let you join no matter what your background/skills/etc. are.

yeah, most clubs let you in not matter what.

as far as club sports, usually they have A teams and B teams and encourage people join, not matter previous experience.
