It seems like many people talk strongly about
the importance of joining/creating clubs at school.
Well, here’s my list…

Freshman: none

Sophomore: Vice Pres. in Chinese Club
(i’m not a chinese, but i took chinese as my foreign language.
We also published Chinese magazines for the school.)

Junior: Vice Pres. in Chinese Club
Chief editor in Economy Club (this club is joined by not only our school students, but also students from neighoboring schools. We publish magazines.)
President (or founder) in Biology Club.
Vice Pres. in Chemistry Club
and continued those in senior year.

As you can see, i started joining/creating clubs in junior year, like, in a sudden. Does this look bad? or okay?

I personally don’t think there is a problem with that, I didn’t join any clubs till my sophomore year. Mainly because it was too late, you have to join certain clubs in the beginning of the year at my school. But I don’t see a problem with it. It just looks bad if you joined a lot and dropped them the following year.

Was the Chinese club brand new when you first joined it? It sort of seems suspicious to me when people “get” leadership positions in clubs that have existed for a while, without ever being in the club…

My school forces us to take 2 clubs per year. Every Wednesday, each class is cut by 10 minutes, and at the end of the school day, we go to our clubs for an hour.

But we really don’t have any good clubs. Alot of them have goofy titles like “Fun with Physics” or “For the Love of Fishing”. I joined the National Art Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

It looks like you have done enough; probably an average amount.
