Well, basically the title, I have no idea about my options of colleges given my experiences and school stats:
-I graduated in 2015 from a British School in Cordoba, Spain
-Spent past 4 years in Spain playing soccer (highest level being tercera division)
-Before I left for Spain, I got A-'s in all my classes (freshman and sophomore year)
-A Level grades(British system): A(Spanish) B(Chemistry) C(Physics) C(Biology) B(Thinking Skills) B(Maths)
-1790 on old SAT
I am honestly still trying to play professionally, but I would like to apply to colleges for Fall 2019 as a back up. That is also my last year of NCAA eligibility, and I would try to use soccer to get into the best school possible. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks
What are you looking for in a school?
- Location?
- Big city, smaller city, small town, rural setting?
- Which majors are you interested in?
- Do you care about the school’s Greek/party scene?
- Which level of athletics would fit you – D1, D2, D3?
- On a 4.0 scale (where A = 4, B = 3, etc), what would your high school (or euro equivalent) Grade Point Average (GPA) be?
Where did you start high school? In the US or somewhere else? If you studied in more than one place, you will need to send your school records from each of them. You can have your foreign high school records formally evaluated by https://www.wes.org/ That will give you a good conversion for your grades. If you have no one to advise you on the US educational system, pay a visit to the EducationUSA office in Madrid https://educationusa.state.gov/centers/fulbright-madrid The counselors there will be able to help you find places that would work for your academic goals. Whether they know much about athletic recruitment is a different thing.
There is a sub-forum for Athletic Recruits inside the Specialty College Admissions Topics forum. Here is the link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/athletic-recruits/ The parents there should have some useful ideas for you.
How much money will your family be able to pay for your education? Have you any savings from the years of playing soccer? Getting admitted to college is one thing, paying for it is another, so have a money talk with whoever will be helping you cover the costs of your education.
