CMU Interview Dilemma

<p>So I’m applying to Tepper RD, but I’ve run into a little problem. I find out if I get into my ED school Dec 15th, but I need to have my CMU app ready to submit by December 20th (school policy–really stupid, something about X days of processing). So that means that I can either:

  1. email a CMU alumni, probably have the interview next week, and churn out a 500 word essay about it by the 20th (if I don’t get into ED)
  2. schedule an interview for next week but face the possibility of having to cancel on the interviewer
  3. don’t do the interview and probably hurt my chances of getting into CMU. </p>

<p>Advice? Thoughts? Also, if I ask CMU for my alumni’s contact info, are they notified of this? Or do the alumni not know until I contact them myself?</p>

<p>The alumnus won’t know until you contact him. The admissions people aren’t going to be paying that much attention to who they are talking to. Schedule the interview and either do it or cancel if you get in ED - the alum won’t mind. </p>
