<p>I have received an admit for CMU MISM (#1 MIS program) but still not sure if I want to accept it or not…
From the placement reports it looks like all graduates are hired for IT/Technical positions,while I want to have more flexibility and apply to some top10 management consulting companies,PE/VC,BB etc…Can anybody advise if I have chances to do so with CMU MISM degree?..Dont want to be pigeonholed doing some boring IT consulting (SAP,Oracle,other package solution).</p>
<p>the least technical is probably Business Analyst and IT Consulting. </p>
<p>MISM isn’t geared toward Management Consulting and I personally don’t know any MISM students who have landed a Management Consulting job right after graduation. If there are it’s going to be very rare. But that’s not to say Management Consulting is impossible. McKinsey came specifically to Heinz last Fall (and a number of MISM students got interviews) and there is also a Management Consulting class.</p>
