Cmu question!!

I applied to two schools at CMU (College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Mellon College of Science)…I applied to MCS not realizing that there was an SAT II requirement (one science)…

This was a careless oversight and very well should nullify my application at MCS…however, could my carelessness perhaps project a negative image of me that would hurt my chances at CHSS??

Thanks for any input :)

The real question isn’t whether it will hurt your chances at HSS (yes, you’re correct, your MCS application is considered incomplete).

The question is how to handle this.

IMHO - You need to withdraw the MCS application entirely and let the application be to HSS alone. Send Adcom a note or call admissions tomorrow morning and make sure it’s handled. Don’t mention your fu-pah. Just say you “accidentally didn’t see a checked box” or some other such nonsense. Unless of course your essays are all about MCS- -then this sucks.
You can transfer into MCS later.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but it’s “faux pas”, not “fu-pah”. The latter is slang for something best not mentioned on this site. Anyway, if I were the OP I would call admissions and ask to withdraw his application to MCS, as to not project a negative light on the rest of his application, though I doubt it truly would. Best of luck.

I called an they said it is totally fine and they’ll even still consider my application to MCS :)
