cmu scs provide strong foundation in ee??

ive applied to cmu scs and wanted to knw: does the strong cs major there also provides a strong foundation in EE??

thanks.

No, not at all. SCS has nothing to do with EE. Of course, you can take EE classes as electives that will count towards an SCS degree. It works both ways; you can take CS classes as an ECE major and get a strong foundation in CS.

Agreed with cmonyuk- unless you want to take EE classes, CS will give you no foundation in EE. However, you’re welcome to take EE classes for the science/engineering requirement (up to 3/4 would count for that, as you would need a lab and there are no EE classes that count as labs), have your minor be ‘engineering studies’ (6 or 7 classes, all but 1 of which can be EE), take a second major in EE, and take whatever EE classes you’d like to that will fit in your schedule.

I’ve always thought of CS as software and EE as hardware. CE is the combination of both.
