CMU Student Government Organization Approval

How do you get the CMU Student Government to recognize your student organization.

Approach them in the beginning of the year and they’ll give you some forms to fill out. You must first make sure that your club is absolutely nothing like any existing clubs, or they’ll just advise that you “merge” with the other club and try to sort out your differences. (My friend and I tried to start an integrated writing/art club, and there was an existing lame ‘comics’ club that put out awful printer-paper comics. They told us to go join up with them.) Once the paperwork’s submitted, you’ll need to find some founding members and add their names to your charter.

Then wait a bit and they’ll schedule a meeting with you and the rest of the council. Propose your idea; if they like it they’ll commend you as a campus organization.
