I received an email informing me that I had been chosen to participate in the Coach Program. What exactly does that mean, and how was I chosen? Also a little off topic, when do you learn the names of your professor? Thank you for any help.

I was wondering the same thing. It kinda seems like a program that targets “at-risk” students.

Are you two referring to the Advising First program? Where you have your own personal advisor?

The Advising Plus Coaching Center, Advising Plus program.

Yeah, I think so. It says we meet our advisor in the first few weeks of class (with the first opportunity being the day after move-in) and you talk to the coach once every other week via phone or in person.

Yes, that’s Advising Plus. I’m in the program as well. Basically they choose 600 or so kids randomly in the upcoming freshman class. Your advisor is “the key” to campus. He or she will be able to help you on any questions you have regarding almost EVERYTHING on campus. Whether you need to find out information on Greek Life, dining, the leech center, clubs and associations, your advisor will be able to help. They will guide you along your first year.

Now, this is all fine and dandy, but I really didnt’ feel the need to attend the meetings with my advisor much. It all depends on what you want to get out of your advisor, but it does help in the beginning of your college career.

You could also ask them directly with the email they sent you because I emailed them back when I got it and the lady told me like pretty much everything and they should be calling you soon to set up a meeting so make sure you know when you can meet
