This event will be held Saturday,16 April, at Group San Francisco Coast
Guard Station, Yerba Buena Island. Time is 8:00 a.m. until approximately
3:00 p.m. This will be a very full day of tours and events and gives one an
an overview of Coast Guard activity. AIM Satellite Day is
co-hosted by the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
The following is the schedule for that day:
8:00 a.m.: Check-in / registration in the Dining Hall. Coffee and hot
chocolate provided.
9:00: Welcome, Opening Statements by Jerry Townsend, AIM
Coordinator, U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
9:15: Comments by LTJG Tom Pequinot, Coast Guard Academy
and a high school senior, Jeannie, who attended 2004 AIM and who has
an appointment to the Academy beginning June 2005.
9:45: Search and Rescue demonstration with helicopter and patrol craft.
10:15: Group A: underway aboard Coast Guard Cutter Tern. Group B:
tour of Visual Tracking Center.
11:15: Dining Hall for lunch. Coast is approximately $3.50 per person.
12:15 p.m.: Group B: underway aboard Cutter Tern. Group A: tour of
Visual Tracking center.
1:15: Group A: tour Group San Francisco Command Center. Group B:
tour Cutter Aspen and / or water-borne aids to navigation.
2:00: Group B: tour Group Command Center. Group A: Cutter Aspen
and / or water-borne aids to navigation.
2:45: Debrief / Final Questions.
