Cochlear Implants

Looking for information for someone who wants assistance.

Does anyone have information on the “best” hospitals and physicians to begin an earnest inquiry? I suggested that person begins with current physicians and audiologists. Person is going to leave no stone unturned and wants to do own research but not sure where to begin.

The reasoning is for best end result. Patient has gotten some poor medical advice in the past, or at least medical care in the past left them with many long term side effects. As a result, patient is now very skeptical and nervous about going forward with this.

You can post here or send PMs. Thanks!

I don’t have any info but bumping the thread.
Hope you find what you need.

I would try the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. I’ve never been there, nor do I know anyone who has been, but I’ve always heard it’s the place to go.

dragonmom, thanks for that bump.

VH, thank you.

Please keep the info coming either on this thread or send a PM. Thanks!

Also, sometimes one’s insurance company can steer one to a “center of excellence.” It’s worth a call to the insurer to see if they have a COE for cochlear implants.
