I am admitted to the College of Engineering for Fall 2010. Is it easy for me to transfer to the College of Chemistry and eventually major in chemical engineering? Also, is it easy for engineering students to do a simultaneous degree in engineering and either mathematics or economics? Is it possible for an engineering student to major in business at Haas and get two degrees from both the College of Engineering and Haas? I am very undecided on my future as an undergraduate, but I am very interested in engineering and economics/business.

Thanks for your guidance. Go Bears!

I don’t think transferring between CoE to CoC is difficult. If you want to get into Chemical Engineering though, try to transfer into CoC by your sophomore year…you’ll need to take ChemE 140 as a start for the chemical engineering course sequence.

You can definitely minor in math or economics. Depending on how ambitious you are, you may be able to double major.

Sure, it has been done before. Ankur Luthra, a former Berkeley university medalist (top undergrad student) got dual degrees in EECS and Haas business administration.

He was also a Rhodes scholar and received straight As through his entire academic career including 16 A+'s.
At Berkeley, anything is possible.

My recommendation: Focus on your engineering degree; take some econ and math electives and then go for an MBA later.

Good luck and Go Bears!
