Coffee spilled on laptop

OK, I didn’t have a great start this morning. I spilled coffee on my laptop. The good news is: the laptop still works fine. The bad news is: it smells like coffee. Now I like the smell of coffee, but the coffee had some milk in it and we all know what that smells like in a few days.
I mopped it up right away, and later used a lysol cleaning wipe on it. It still smells like coffee.
Any suggestions?

Oh no! You are lucky though. When hubby spilled tea on my laptop last year, it started during very strange things like typing a series of 88888’s randomly. Luckily it was still under warranty.

Try getting a can of air and giving it a good spraying…it might help and couldn’t hurt.

Turn it off and wait a few days to let it dry completely before turning it back on. Really important.

^ I agree, let it dry out thoroughly!

You are kidding me, right? THIS is a problem!? It is FABULOUS is what it is. So it smells…at least its just coffee and not say, fish or rotting asparagus. And of course it will dissipate with time.

Sorry but my envy overrides my sympathy at the moment (I spilled coffee on my laptop about six months ago…and lost everything…). I envy you! :)

You may be able to turn it off & remove the battery and then pop the case apart to clean the keypad, but it is risky…and for sure remove the battery etc in case there is anything still liquid in there that gets into the electronics when you turn the thing sideways!

It works fine, in fact I’m using it now  I’m concerned that the little bit of milk in the coffee might cause it to smell bad in a few days.

I would still dry it out- because sometimes it takes a while for the moisture to get to the chips- I speak from experience

resist the temptation to spray it with anything liquid like febreeze or any type of cleaner/deodorizer.

^lllllllllol!!
