Coffee vs. Cigarettes

I’m having trouble staying awake all day or just thinking and performing different activities without feeling tired and sleepy. Usually I just drink lots of coffee, by lots I mean like 6 regular cups. I, personally like smoking better and was wondering if one cigarette has the same negative effect on your health as six cups of coffee.

well, both are bad for your heart and stuff. but nicotine is by far more toxic a psychoactive drug than caffeine, is extremely more addicting (nicotine is one of the most physically addicting drugs around). so i’d stick to coffee. cigarettes hurt your lungs more.
also, why don’t you try sleeping more, that’ll help you stay awake better ncthan any psychoactive substance and be healthier.

Smoking is very bad for you. Don’t voluntarily begin doing it.

Coccaine is better.

I only smoke to unwind and relax/calm down when incredibly stressed. If you need 6 cups of coffee try a caffeine pill or something. Nicotine isn’t that bad for you but the other crap in cigarettes is much much worse than coffee.

Don’t smoke. Nicotine will only act as a stimulant for a very short time; you will become dependent so fast it will lose all effectiveness and you will get hooked very, very quickly.

One cigarette is far worse for you than six cups of coffee. Between all of the carcinogens in the smoke, the carbon monoxide, the additives, and the nicotine throughout your body (which is also a carcinogen), a cigarette is terrible. Don’t use them as a stimulant, it’s not worth it.

Did someone just say that doing Cocaine is better for you than smoking? o.O

cocaine’s a helluva drug

I seem to get enough sleep: 8 hrs on the weekdays and 10 on weekends.
It also seems as people in Europe are “free-minded” about smoking, whereas in US, if you smoke the society members look down on you and make you feel like a leper.
ps. cocaine isn’t an option.

“I only smoke to unwind and relax/calm down when incredibly stressed.”

You are aware that this is how every single smoker on the face of the planet picked up the habit, right?

Coffee drinkers: stop drinking it. I get horrifically addicted to caffeine when I drink coffee regularly, and in just a little bit I need a large coffee in the morning before I can even function. What you need to do is to go cold turkey - this SUCKS for a week or so but once you’re off caffeine it’s a lot better. Then, start learning how to manage your blood sugar properly so that you can give yourself energy naturally instead of relying on a chemical compound. Working out regularly can help too.

Cigarettes are the worst (and won’t give you noticeable energy boosts), but you look damn cool if you pull them off right so it’s an even toss-up.

ya well, the US hasn’t been known for tolerance. I don’t care if someone smokes, it’s not a big deal. but i think cigarettes are way more harmful in terms of health than coffee. remember, coffee hasn’t got a huge psychological or physical addiction, withdrawal symptoms are, at worst, a headache or tiredness. nicotine is a toxic, poisonous substance, that’s extremely addicting with harsher withdrawal syndromes and, worse, a huge psychological dependence.
try getting more exercise, sleeping more, eating right, and drinking less coffee so that you’re body isn’t used to any of that artificial psychotropic energy.

^^^the only people who’ve ever looked cool smoking cigarettes are Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash

Smoking is never cool. You think people want to smell that stuff?

i dunno, depends on what you smoke. a nice nat sherman smells pretty nice. cigars are bomb, and nothing smells better than pipe tobacco.

cannabis always smells amazing…mmmmm i think i just might be smelling some…right…now…

I’d have to disagree with everyone who said that smoking cigarettes don’t look cool. I’m not even going to mention Audrey Hepburn… Have you seen contemporary celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Monica Bellucci or Jessica Alba smoking? They look sexier and more sophisticated than without a cigarette in their hands.

One cigarette won’t do jack **** against your health. A cup of coffee will, however.

um weed smells awful

^^
Did you just utter that sentence?
The smell of weed should make all your blood rush to your power source.

Weed changes your soul.

DeluxeHardBaller: Wrong. One cigarette will do more for your health than caffeine will, a) because a cigarette has way more terrible stuff in it than coffee, b) because it doesn’t have any of the health benefits of coffee, and finally the big one, c) because it’s easier to get addicted to cigarettes than coffee, and tobacco addicts have terrible long-term health outcomes.

I love cigars, by the way. A nice Romeo y Julieta Churchill, relaxing with friends on a special occasion… spectacular.

i’m an avo uvezian #7 fan, light pink tube, mild flavor…exquisite.

It’s unfortunate for Americans about the embargo, because I’ve never, ever tasted an American cigar that came anywhere even close to any number of Cubans that I’ve tried.
