Coining a term- cute or faux-pas?

I want to write my essay about being “ditchable” and how it has affected me bladabladablada… Now I know ditchable is not a real world, but I find it to be really effective. Is using it as the main idea of my essay okay? I’m not talking about throwing it in as an adjective randomly, where it could be mistaken that I actually think it’s a word. Thoughts?

It is a word, common among divers: [Ditchable -v- Non Ditchable weights](Re: Ditchable -v- Non Ditchable weights)

It’s even a word in Chinese: 可开沟的

Go ahead and use it.
