My kid is an RD applicant. Got an email in early Feb asking to indicate interest in any of the Scholars programs. Subsequently got an email to Interview for the Pulver, which just finished and was amazing.

Does anyone know how strong an admissions signal it is to get a Pulver interview? My kid was really excited afterwards. :slight_smile:

Which Scholars program? Was it the Bachelor+Master program with UChicago?

There are threads from earlier years from people invited to interview for these scholarships (pulver and presidential), and most – but not all - seem to have been accepted. They only invite really strong applicants, so its definitely an honor.

Thanks, I saw them. Most were started in 2020 and may be a bit obsolete. Threads also closed.

I wonder how many Pulver interviews are given nowadays?

Yes - here invited for Presidential (did app) and UChicago masters offer was in the app too (declined)

WL - does anyone know anything about the Global Entry Semester?

I don’t know how many Colby takes from the waitlist

ETA: She said yes to application to Global Entry Semester – so we will see if they let her in! Does anyone know how many students apply to this?

Colby doesn’t award merit scholarships.

I guess no monetary scholarship – I don’t think they give any? My daughter is out of town and didn’t say anything other than that she got in.

S26 was accepted. Did anyone hear back about the Presidential Scholars or the UChicago Master’s program?

Did anyone apply to the UChicago Advanced Scholars program? Has anyone received a decision?

It was a supplemental portion of the Presidential Scholar application. My S26 was offered a spot in the Presidential Scholar Program and they are flying him up to the admitted student event later this month. His ultimate decision will likely be influenced heavily on whether he is offered a spot in the UChicago Advanced Scholars cohort.

I totally disagree. This is a program offered by Colby College and Colby will issue the decisions… he was invited to apply along with the Colby Presidential Scholars program.

I just want to follow up on my Feb 28 and March 2 posts because there is so much misinformation on the Web.

  • My son INTERVIEWED for the Pulver, but did NOT get it.
  • He WAS accepted to Colby, and with enough enthusiasm that it was clear they really liked his application.
  • He ended up with several other good acceptances, and went elswhere.
  • Despite not choosing Colby, we were all really impressed with their admissions and fin aid office. Really classy, organized, responsive professionals. Made a big impression.

On the other hand, I know of two people who also interviewed for Pulver/Presidential and DID NOT get accepted. So I would be careful about assuming that getting an interview is equivalent to a likely letter. The most outspoken person deleted all his/her posts on Reddit after the rejection, so be careful of the Survivor Effect of posts you see.
