Excellent ECs, but you seem to be international? In that case, there’s no really point in applying ED, you’ll just get deferred to the RD round unless you are full-pay.

Look through the old Colby threads. There are a couple of people here whose kids did it. DS had a friend who did it – really liked it as it hot her FL out of the way, she made a good group of friends, had a fun COOT trip in Jan, and didn’t feel at all impaired socially.
(Sorry, feels like a lot of the folks with direct experience are not so active. But it’s not a crazy active forum, so you should be able to find this info without too much pain!)
I don’t know anything first-hand - kid is a 1st year there now, so hasn’t yet met the group that will be coming back in Jan. But I remember reading threads of people who’d done it and all had positive things to say. I think the drawback of not meeting people on campus first semester are balanced by having a tight cohort on the semester abroad that you then come back to school with, so it isn’t like you’re walking onto campus not knowing anyone - you have a group of close friends (hopefully) already. My kid’s loving the school in general!
