4 rejections (MIT, F&M, Macalester, Colgate)
1 waitlist (URichmond)
:sunglasses:

Did anybody else get the ā€œGame Changerā€ email back in late January in which Colgate, perhaps overwhelmed by the sheer number of applications, was asking if you’d like to convert your regular decision application into an ā€œearly decisionā€ application?

Rooting for you. I have 6 more schools left but I’m not hopeful… Hopefully we get accepted somewhere.

They even left ED2 open until March 1. After I got rejected from my first ED2 school (Colby) I considered applying ED2 to Colgate!

Good luck with URichmond. One of my former students is a senior at Richmond this year. She loves it there. Fingers crossed for you that you come off the waitlist and can enroll for the Fall 2021!

I’m sorry for the news. My daughter got similar letters from other schools. It’s always hard to hear, especially as a parent too. We applied to schools for my 12 year old son with learning disabilities and also got similar letters about how he wasn’t chosen. Now the job and internship rejection letters are coming which are even harsher. Hang in there and best wishes!

Our son was waitlisted with high stats and solid EC’s. This was expected by now, given their increase in applications and fortunately he has other good options. I do feel like the class of 2021 has gotten the very short end of the stick in this year’s college admissions…not a good year to be applying to highly selective schools.

That’s quite the rejection letter. The guy sounds quite the narcissist. ā€œThis hurts us more than it hurts you.ā€ Didn’t anyone else in the admissions office read it for tone?

A message of possible hope. My husband is a son of illiterate farmers. He’s currently a professor at Colgate. This admission year makes it extra hard. Maybe focus on schools that are need-blind to foreigners, such as Amherst. (There are others like Berea College that cover entire cost, if admitted) I do hope things work out for you this year.

Sounds like we’re in a very similar situation, it’s so frustrating. Hopefully we get better news from his remaining schools, fingers crossed. Best of luck to your son
