ACCEPTED WITH VERY GOOD AID.
Kind of freaking out because I did not expect this considering my stats weren’t stellar. I’m guessing my essays and extra curriculars got me in? I guess we’ll never know.
Anyways, I’m actually here because I need some help. Hamilton is very very far from JFK airport. So how am I suppose to get all the way to Hamilton if it’s that far from JFK airport? I live in Utah btw.
I saw a couple offers like buses and cars, but their all very expensive. Any cheap suggestions from current students or prospective students or genuinely anyone??
@hardtimes45: You should be able to fly to Syracuse, which, to give you an indication of distance, is a little over an hour away from Hamilton by car. For this relatively short trip, you should be able to find several transportation options.
@hardtimes45
‘Syracuse Hancock International Airport’ is the closest airport to Colgate. You can get more information from → https://www.colgate.edu/about/campus-services-and-resources/student-travel-agency
You can also email the admissions office, which is what I would suggest, and I’m sure they will help you.
Daughter (accepted) and very excited however with very little aid Accepted by other schools with great aid packages. My daughter loves Colgate and I don’t know how to proceed. Should I contact the school.
Accepted!! Colgate is my first choice, but was apprehensive about committing ED.

Accepted! 4.12 GPA, 1510 SAT. Congrats everyone!
@hardtimes45, to get to Hamilton, NY fron the Syracuse airport: there is always a reasonably priced school shuttle that you can take to campus on school holidays/long weekends. Another option if travelling on non-holiday weekends is to hire the Colgate “on-demand” shuttle or a local car service. You can always get an Uber from the Syr airport to Hamilton too (about a $60 ride).

Anyone have any ideas about how many people will be accepted off the waitlist? Colgate was defiently a match–not a reach–for me and I think the main reason I was waitlisted was because of financial aid, which I think would also prevent me from getting off the waitlist. I sent a LOCI and I’m hoping for the best!
Any idea what joining the Alumni Memorial Scholars program entails? Is there any reason one would not join?
I think the AMS honor is awarded, @OverseasFather. After that it seems entirely discretionary as to whether a student takes advantage of its associated opportunities.
My son, on Monday, confirmed with Colgate as an ‘Alumni Memorial Scholar’. He intends to double major in Mathematics and Economics.
Thanks. You are right; Colgate awards the AMS honor. But then, at the time of accepting admission, Colgate asks you, whether you wish to join the Alumni Memorial Scholars’ program or not. Which I found rather strange. Because why would someone not accept the honor? The only limitation that I could find, is that all AMS freshmen and sophomores are required to live in the same commons.
@OverseasFather: Congratulations to your son, AMS represents an exceptional recognition! As for the program’s single “limitation,” I think you have identified it. It seems Colgate, wisely, decided to offer choice so as not to detract in any way from from the honor of being selected. With respect to your son’s interest in pursuing economics, note that Colgate offers a top-notch faculty: https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.uslacecon.html.
