I am going to start applying to schools soon, and I think I could get into some ivy-league-caliber schools. I was wondering which of the top schools have a very high strung, competitive, and stressful environment and which schools are more relaxed and collaborative(Other than liberal arts schools). Any thoughts?
Relaxed and collaborative: Pomona College
I believe Haverford College is known for being fairly relaxed and collaborative. Both Pomona and Haverford are very strong academically.
Within the Ivy League, Brown has the reputation of being the most “relaxed and collaborative.”
Among the non-Ivy peer institutions, Rice and WashU are noted for combining academic rigor with a generally non-competitive vibe.
In the Northeast, Brown is considered to be an “alternative Ivy” while Tufts is considered to be an “Ivy alternative”.
Agree with several prior posters…on my daughter’s search for schools that were academically challenging as well as collaborative in nature…the top two candidates were Pomona College and Brown University.
But Pomona is an LAC - the OP doesn’t want that.
@thankyouforhelp - I didn’t see that qualification. In fact, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there when I commented. Perhaps it was added when OP edited the post. I do think that what the OP is looking for is harder to find outside the LAC realm. Brown is probably a good suggestion.
My burn – repeated myself.
