I lol at all the posters with 0 posts singing praises at CAA.

Are you/were you a member of CAA? Have you actually called any of the coaches? If you actually read my post you would know that I JUST WENT TO A WORKSHOP, so that’s why I just now joined in the discussion when I found this thread. I had never heard of CAA or College Confidential until getting that CAA mailing and then googling it.

Why are you so convinced that it is a scam? I felt really confident in my conversation with one of the coaches the other day. I am still worried about the cost, and I already stated that I didnt like the way the workshop went, but what is your reason for throwing it completely out as illegitimate?

it is curiously interesting how the people who claim to have benefitted from CAA are defending it with passion. If I did subscribe to their program and it did help me, I might post it here. If no one believes it, I wouldn’t care at all what others say about it. I would just move on and just be satisfied with the knowledge that I did get my money’s worth. Not unless you truly and deeply want to help other people’s kids to go to college. Then you should have been a guidance counsellor.

Now to keep defending it with passion??? You have to be in CAA payroll to be doing that.

Hello:

I have a child going into 11th grade and am trying to find out about this. Thanks,
Donna bzidar@hotmail.com

Read the thread. You’ll find your answer.

Hi, I am new to posting. I took my family on sunday to a CAA workshop. I like most everyone here thinks this is a possible scam. The only problem I’ve have had over the last day or 2… was reading the post. So far every post I’ve read was people who received the letter and did not try CAA’s help or Some who said it was good and has helped their child. Where are the post from people who has tried it and got no where? I’ll be perfectly honest, if I had a signed up for this and was taken advantage of, I most certainly would be posting my problems with the company. I also checked BBB. CAA is not a credited BBB company, but BBB did give them a D+, which raises a flag. But when I look at all the complaints… most seemed to be resloved.
In the end me and my husband is going to try this with our family. If I have any bad news to report, I promis I will post it for everyone to read. So far, we received our first phone call from a coach. She spoke with my daughter. I was not home, but my husband was. He did listen to the phone call and said the person was very nice and introduced herself to my child and welcomed her. She said they are waiting to receive the information we filled out and as soon as they do they will contact us. Which should be next, Monday.
I am very nervous about this because it is a lot of money. But I have noticed every one who helps the same way is around the same cost.
The only promis this company made to me is they will be there to guid my child, to make sure they do well on PSATS/SATs/ACT, help with editing college essays, help choise the right college/try to help get the best financle aid (did not promis any $$ amount for financle aid.)

Hi edaish,
We just signed up for this program for my rising senior. Now I’m not so sure. please email me with your info. Thanks MUCH!!! caputohomestead@comcast.net

643dad,
Did you stay with the program? we are on our last day to cancell and not sure what to do. Wish I had found this yesterday. Let me know please!!! caputohomestead@comcast.net

I just came from one of those seminars and I payed the $1995.00. I don’t have a lot of money but I fealt like I was investing in my daughter’s future. Because I couldn’t afford the entire payment up front they put me on a payment plan. Of course I hope this is legitimate but if it’s not I just gambled $1995.00 and lost and lesson learned. I just don’t want to see my daughter’s intelligence wasted. Feedback is appreciated. If anyone has used this program I would appreciate hearing from you.

Although the amount of spam posts in this thread is numerous, I don’t think the mods should delete it. When I was a sophomore, these companies bombarded me with letters, trying to persuade their programs were snazzy and legit.
Haha. No.
I Googled “College Admissions Assistance” and this thread was the first result. It helped me make my decision to not join the CAA bandwagon.

Parents, if you are really clueless about financial aid/college process, you should let your child attend a summer college program that an actual university offers. It’s more trustworthy and cheaper. (ie I went to my state’s university to take college courses. We had these people come in to tell us about applying for financial aid, etc.)

Oh, CAA, National Youth Leadership Forum etc, whatever…not worth it. $2000, seriously? You can kiss my arse.

I don’t want them to delete it. I want it to be locked so it doesn’t attract even more spam.

^You could probably post this in the community forum.

^ Hmm good idea. Thanks Warts.

lol I never opened this thread before because I didn’t know about the topic/care, but it is lulzy. I love all one time posters

My head hurts after reading this =

^You read it?! Wow, that’s impressive lol.

I have good reading stamina lol. Even though I’m entering college this fall this still amuses me

^Hat’s off to you. :)
