It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly, a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly, a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.

Think about what you want the admissions officers to know about you. What makes you, you? Why would you be a great addition to their campus?

Don’t be afraid to write a draft or two, or three. Then have a trusted teacher read it to give feedback.

Some options include:

Making an observation;

Asking a question;

Beginning a discussion.
