College App Overload

After a disappointing score on my World History SAT IIs, I was wondering if retaking it during December(only time available) would be too much too handle during the college application process? This includes the prep time invested into studying as well.

bumpppppppppppppppppppp

None of us know how long it would take you to do stuff. I personally thought world history was ridiculously easy and didn’t waste much time on it all… all of us spend time differently.

if you think you can handle it and really want to get a higher score, i would retake it. december is a popular time for apps to be due, but most aren’t due until the end of december/early january – i think you should be able to fit it in.

You could switch things around a little: Get the bulk of your application paperwork (especially the essays) done over the summer, then update as needed in the fall and finish your testing in December. The Common App and many supplements should be out on or around July 1.

Yeah, I like your idea! Thanks.

I had all my apps submitted by around Thanksgiving because I didn’t want them looming when we had midterm exams. I think the essays for this year will be the same on the commonapp, but you might have some supplement essays to colleges to write in the fall. Get started early, ask your recommendation teachers early because they get busy in the fall. If the deadline is December 31, make it November 30 for you.
GOOD LUCK!!!

All good advice, but what what type of score is disappointing to you? For some people, a 750 is disappointing, for others, a 670, or a 400. You may be freaking out over nothing. If your other test scores are decent-solid, you will be fine (test-score wise) at even the most selective colleges.

Also, most colleges, even if there applications are due in December will accept testing through January. So you should be fine in the regard.

Good Luck!

Do you have a source directly stating testing through January is acceptable?

I have a 540 in World. I will be taking Physics and Math 2, which I am preping for now. Even though Stanford(the school I want to attend) recommends two SAT IIs, I would like to do well on all 3, thus I am retaking World to get 700+, and hopefully the 700+ will offset the 540 I got in June.

Thanks for the help everyone. Much appreciated.

I was almost done with my apps by December…and I applied to 11 schools. If you start early, you’ll be fine.
