Hi im a fresman currently attending santa monica college and i took the assessment once and i got placed into english 21a which is like the 3rd class before english 1…so im planning to take the assessment test again tomorrow and try to get placed into english 1…but IF id do worse and get a score that is worse than english 21a will i flunk and have to repeat? or will the best score i got always be the dominant?

I think this is more of a question for the SMC assessment counselor. At PCC you can “challenge” into the class above the one you were assessed in to, but if you fail it you have to go back and take the class you were assessed in to. That’s not exactly what you’re asking, but perhaps look into that option at SMC.

yeah if u get an A in the class u can skip 1 class i think, but im talking about the assessment and whether i can take it again without, having to worry about me doing worse than before and getting into a worse class

if anyone has any answers please let me know!

ok so i went to re-test today and the guy said i cant retake the test because i am already enrolled in an english…is this true? im at SMC by the way

Did you register for any English classes? When did you take the first assessment? Again, these questions are probably best for a counselor/advisor at SMC than us.

retake at another community college and send in your scores.
