I just did some tests out of the college board blue book… i worked backwards (just for fun)…
i started at test 2, then got to 8, i usually scored pretty well. Towards the end of my practice test supply i would get:
1-2 wrong on math (once i got 3 wrong)
2-3 wrong on writing
9+ wrong on reading (ok i know… i need to work on this)

but then today… i decided to do test #1 from the college board blue book…
I DIED!!!
5-6 WRONG ON THE FIRST MATH SECTION
5-6 WRONG ON THE 35 POINT WRITING SECTION
READING… DONT EVEN ASK :'(

is it me? is the some messed up level of difficulty for that particular test? maybe i was not in the right mind set… i have been doing 1 practice test a day for the past week and a half… but this much decline is not normal. Has anyone else found the first test in the blue book to be ridiculously hard??
thx

I didn’t notice. I did try and take a couple practice tests when I was really tired though and ended up missing 10 in one reading section, then I stopped haha.

Unlike the OP, I did Practice Test 1 first. I did miss a few more than expected on CR (690 CR on PT1, despite my 800 CR in January 2009), but I chalked it up to rustiness (hadn’t been exposed to the format in a while, etc.). For reference, here are my practice test scores from BB:

PT 1: 2220 (690 CR, 780 M 750 W)
PT 2: 2300 (770 CR, 780 M 750 W)
PT 3: 2250 (750 CR, 760 M 740 W)
PT 4: 2300 (790 CR, 740 M 770 W)
PT 5: 2280 (770 CR, 740 M 770 W)

As one may see, PT 1 was my worst score but it was probably due to lack of preparation.

I took them in order and I got the worst score on Test 1 (2150). I just assumed that I did better on the other tests because I was learning from my mistakes and when I took the first practice test, it was the first time I had done anything SAT related in months.

The 690 and all of my other scores were averages of the high and low end projected scores in BB (i.e. for a raw score of 58, the range was 650-730; I averaged 650 and 730 to get a projected “mean” score of about 690).
