College Board Method of Scoring the SAT I?

I’m just confused as to how the college board scores the SAT and I’m hoping that someone could clarify this for me. So on my section scores on both tests I’ve taken have been inconsistent with their official scoring chart. For example, on one of the tests according to the chart my CR+W combined scores should have yielded a 690, but instead I scored a 660 officially. Also, on the math portion I got 11 questions incorrect and according to the chart my math section score should have been a 690 but instead I received a 680. The same has happened with my second test, in which the chart indicates my math score should have been a 710 but officially it is a 680? Why does this happen? What else is going on? Isn’t it a bit unfair?

What are referring to as an “official scoring chart”? Are you talking about the scoring chart CB provides for its practice test. If so be aware that is a chart that applies to that particular practice test and you cannot assume it applies to all tests, The various actual SAT tests vary somewhat among each other in difficulty and the 200-800 section score on one test is often somewhat different from another test despite your having the same raw score on each.

Every test has its own curve, @zofro99 , if the curve was harsh, that means the test graded out as relatively easy.
