College Board's ACT Averages

A person in a previous thread talked about this.

Why is it that the reported ACT averages on College Board’s College Search much, much lower than the reported SAT average (assuming the same conversion chart)

For example, Stanford’s average SAT is 2000-2300, while the average ACT reported is 28-33. A 28 is much lower than a 2000 according to many conversion charts.

Well, the set of people who submitted ACT scores isn’t the same as the set of people who submitted SAT scores. So the averages of the two sets could be completely different.

ive accually found for most schools the SAT and ACT averages corrolate evenly. Even for Stanford, a 28 is said to be anywhere from 1920-1980
