<p>Hi, I was just wondering how Juniors can get book awards. Each year my school hosts an award ceremoney and last year there was like 5 or 6 kids who got book awards, most of them were top of their class, but a few were around my caliber. I really want to get one, but dont know how?? I have decent grades, roughly a 3.6 and prob either in top 25% or top 10 % of my class. However, my Sat’s were not good at all (1710). But, I do have alot of EC’s and am captain of a sport, and Vice President of my class. I live in the NE area so i would love to get a book award from like BU, Northeastern, or some smaller school slike Middlebury, and stuff like that!!!</p>
<p>I don’t know about all of them, but many are simply funded by the local alums. In some cases, they let hs faculty or admins choose the kids who get them. So, there are no universal standards. You can ask your GC, but for college apps, ime, it’s not as important as the rest of the support you get via the GC and teacher LoRs.</p>
