I’ve been thinking about this for a while and wanted to know what you think.

I feel that colleges will if not already are heightening their marketing and boosting their brand for ‘better business’ in terms of attracting students (but this is nothing new). This is probably because of the weakening economy, increasing tuition and the fact that the boom of incoming students is decreasing as it should (it’s cyclic).

Do you as someone that has been through the admissions process think this is a good thing; let schools continue to fight it out and those that fail will be less stress on state budgets, or do you think parameters should be mediated; increased funding to schools means lower tuition- possibly more attractive to students? Also, is this trend occurring in grad school admission?
