I want to go to a California college and I would be an out of state student,
What classes and extracurriculars should I take in my junior and seniors years to go to a college like UCLA or University of California, Berkeley

As an out of state student, the UC’s offer little to no financial aid so are your parents willing to pay $65,000 per year for you to attend UCLA/UCB?

If you want to target UCLA/UCB, then you should take the most rigorous HS courses available to you. You need not only to meet all the a-g course requirements but exceed them.

4 years English including AP or IB classes
4 years Math up to at least Pre-Calc
3 years Foreign Language
3 years History including US History and Government
1 year of a Visual/Performing Art course
3 -4 years of Science including Biology/Chemistry and Physics.

You will SAT scores in the 1400+ range or ACT in the 32+ range.

A UC GPA of 4.1+. See calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Even if you do everything right, consider both as Reach schools. For EC’s, do what you love.

Best of luck.

If you’re out of state, going to CA for school is a very bad idea. Even if your parents could somehow pay the tuition, the cost of living is the highest in the nation. It would be impossible to get financing to pay that kind of tuition, but you couldn’t afford it on a cop’s salary anyway. There are plenty of better options out there.
