So I am attending Point Park University next year, and up until recently, I have been told by admissions and all other official sources that a three on any AP exam will receive credit. A few days ago however, I got a letter in the mail which stated what I was receiving credit for, and I couldn’t find my English Composition credit anywhere on it. I opened my next letter from them (that same day) and it said that scores of threes or high receive credit. I called them and asked, and they stated that they were changing their policy from a three to a four on the AP exam for English Comp. I think the fact that they changed their policy after people put their deposits down and got their credit evaluation back is highly unethical and also unwarranted as I dug through their website and could not find any legal disclaimer saying that their policies are subject to change. The right thing to do is to grandfather those who paid their deposit after the change, but I don’t think that’ll happen and that’s pretty discouraging for me as I have to spend the next few years at a college that doesn’t stick to what they say. Think I have a chance at getting credit if I take this back to them?
If you read the web site carefully you’ll see it states “A score of 3 or higher will be reviewed for course equivalency”
At all colleges I know of it’s up to each department to decide if/what they accept for AP credit.
Would knowing that you would not receive credit for Eng. Comp. have changed your college selectiion? If not nothing has changed. If so unless you choose to withdraw from the school there really isn’t something you are able to change. Take 1 day to be annoyed then look forward to your college experience.
