College Class 2018

Hmm, that could be something worth looking into. I’m currently taking one class at a CC this quarter, and I’ve read some online reviews of teachers in the department that basically amounted to “you need to prepare for their tests, how unreasonable”. If that’s the case with your professor, then as long as you buckle down and study, you should be all right

And same here, everything felt so up in the air as of November of last year. I do wish I had applied to some EA schools, but I’m happy with the way things worked out. It feels surreal how it’s only been a year–junior and senior year, for example, didn’t feel all that different, but then and now certainly do!

So spring course registration was today and me and a boy across the hall decided that it would be an excellent idea to have a 9 am class together everyday when we have already have a hard time getting out of bed by noon…

@Violet1996‌ I actually enjoy having my classes in the morning because I am done by noon and have the rest of the day to do whatever I want. You might end up becoming a morning person!

I enjoy morning classes too - it frees up your whole day.

Oh my GOD. A Calc class just opened up (literally two seats) and I swapped my current Calc class with the terrible current professor I have with the other one who is super popular at our school and I am overjoyed - I just arbitrarily checked Calc I sections and happened upon the newly posted section.

But you win some, you lose some. The class conflicted with two of the classes I was already enrolled in - so I need to find substitutes. C’est la vie.

I thought I would hate morning classes, and I do have an extremely hard time getting out of bed even for my favorite class at 9 am. BUT I love being done early. Next semester I’m going to have a lot morning classes.
My Spring Schedule:
French: MTWTh 9 am
Hebrew: MWThF 10 am
Organic Chem: MWTh 11 am, T 6:30 pm
Organic Lab: F 11 am, M 1 pm
Multivariable: MWTh 12 pm
Theatre: TF 12:30 pm
I may drop wither French or theatre depending on how it goes the first few weeks, but I’m 100% taking the others. Well unless I end up failing orgo this semester…

I don’t even know what’s going on with my schedule. The only classes I’m definitely taking are:

Calculus I - MWF 10:00AM-12:00PM
Honors Freshman Seminar; Gender - TuTh 12:30-1:45
Sacred Space; Jerusalem - TuTh 2:00-3:15

Obviously I need at least another class - ideally two - but I basically dropped two classes to enroll in the new Calc section and there are slim pickings for replacements. I still think it was worth it - a semester with a better professor trumps taking a slightly more interesting gen ed.

The USC-UCLA and Harvard Yale games are both tomorrow! Anyone planning on watching them?

omg, the Stanford vs. Cal game was yesterday. I sold my free ticket haha. CASH! yeah I’m terrible I know.

Also taking a class that knocks off two requirements at once. Yay!

My registration date was today at freaking 7:00am!!! I got the classes I wanted, but not at the times I wanted…

Calc I Lec/Lab MWF: 10-11:50 am
International Relations: MWF: 1-1:50
Stem Cell Seminar: TuTh: 12:30-1:45
Gen. Chem II: MWF: 8-8:50 am
Gen. Chem II Lab: 6-8:50 pm
Biology I : Tu: 6-10:15 pm Th: 6-7:15

I’m not living for this schedule right now, but on the bright side, today is the last day of classes before break!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! :)

@shawnspencer‌ - Happy (late) Thanksgiving to you too! My love for turkey has been renewed, LOL.

I found I had quite a bit to be thankful for this year.

Does anyone do the whole Black Friday thing? I did. I didn’t go crazy though (like starting brawls in Walmart over a food processor or something) – my backpack recently got a sizable hole in it last week, and the strap has started to tear a bit, so I needed a replacement. I bought a North Face daypack from an outlet for like 39.99. I also bought a new pair of Nike sneakers; but that was it.

oh god… so apparently UC Berkeley and its surroundings are built on top of Native American burial grounds, so they protest on Thanksgiving/Black Friday which is dumb because Thanksgiving is the event that happened with the Pilgrims. But anyways I didn’t go shopping because a) I don’t actually need anything and b) I didn’t want to get caught up in the protests. Well the only shopping I did do was grocery shopping because I needed stuff to eat but that doesn’t really count…

I went shopping for the first time this thanksgiving/black friday. Mostly just clothes and college stuff. I dunno, it may just be me, but I never was a particularly a big fan of the thanksgiving/black friday thing. It always seemed terribly ironic to me that people out there go out and buy all this stuff right after giving thanks for all that we have. It kinda makes me think it loses some of its meaning.

Also, seeing family and friends leave early from thanksgiving get-togethers (especially the way it is now, with many stores opening on thanksgiving) was saddening to me as well. I mean, it’s the one time I get to see most of you for the majority of the year. C’mon people.

But again, that may just be me.

@shawnspencer - Oh, I completely understand. My family is really small, and all of our relatives live overseas (not like in Canada - they live in nomadic villages in the Sahara, etc) - so we find it a little too boring to just stay at home and have Thanksgiving dinner (since it’d be just a more elaborate version of what we do normally.) We do Black Friday shopping together after our dinner, which more or less just consists of buying my younger sister new coats for the winter since she sprouts up at least three inches a year. I don’t even think we’re getting that great of a deal, but shopping at night is fun.

The human depravity that goes on in Walmart, Target, Kmart, Best Buy, etc kind of repulses me (but I never fail to look it up on YouTube the next day) - it really is terrible to think how someone could cause serious bodily harm to someone over a material item that isn’t like, life saving medicine for your child or something. I saw a video of a Victoria’s Secret Black Friday fight and two women were literally on top of another woman, punching her repeatedly over underwear. UNDERWEAR! LOL. What on God’s good Earth.

The best part was the comments below the video.

Is it lame for me to ask my parents to buy stuff from my college bookstore for Christmas (mostly like school gear - sweatshirts, t-shirts, 1/4 zips, etc)?

Also, college went 0 to 100 real quick this week; I have so many research papers, presentations, essays, etc due the next two weeks, on top of final exams. When I look at the assignments individually, they don’t seem that daunting (most are 5-7 pages) but together, it is really intimidating.

holy crap it’s December now.
