College Class 2018

What, a whole month of break? That’s awesome! I get back on the 5th. And the school year ends for me on the 5th of * June*! The fun of being on a quarter system…

Yep. I’m using that time to hibernate. Lord knows I need it.

In other news, I am stressed out of my noggin. I just want my grades and for this semester to be over.

I keep obsessively checking my grades. This is what I have so far:

Chemistry: A
Math: A
Sociology: B+

My kinesiology grade will be posted tomorrow after the final, and I’m thinking my grade for English will be posted on Friday. I’m expecting A’s in both classes. I’m so excited about my math grade! I knew that I did well on the final, but I am never 100% sure until the grades are posted.

I’m annoyed that the class that should’ve been the easiest (sociology) was the one that I received the lowest grade. I honestly thought I’d make an A- at least, but oh well. I’m happy with a B+.

GPA is going to be a 3.87. Pretty good for first semester!

I have no idea what my grades are and I mean that in the most literal way possible. We have no portal to check grades. My professors never told me. Literally my first time seeing my grades all semester will be when I check my transcript. If I had to estimate (based off returned exams and papers) my grades, I would say:

Spanish: A (A- at the least)
Politics: B+/A-
First years seminar: A-
American studies: B+

But I will see come January. I’m not too concerned about my GPA now, I’m just getting a feeling of college. If it is not up to par, that will be motivation to try 10x harder next semester. Law school is nothing but numbers and I need to make sure I have those numbers.

@TinnyT - I have a portal to check my grades and none of my professors use it, so I don’t know my grades either until the registrar posts them on my transcript. It sucks because in high school, I was able to monitor my grades and calculate how important upcoming assignments were (like if I had an A+ in XYZ class, maybe I didn’t really need to sweat the next quiz, whereas if I had a B and wanted an A, I’d study really hard or whatever). You are interested in law school? That’s really cool! Might I ask your major?

I took my last final this afternoon. I checked my grades online, and my kinesiology professor curved the hell out of the final. I got a 92/75, lol, so my grade is a 104%.

I really wish that my school had a 4.33 for A+ grades. I would’ve had a 4.0, basically, if that were the case.

@preamble1776‌ Exactly. In high school I had the same and could do that as well. Yes I’m interested in law school. It has always been a suppressed dream of mine. My mom would always tell me that lawyers are too common and that I should do something more lucrative like computer science or something. But recently I realized that it’s my life and I’ll do whatever I want (lol I sound like a 15 year old girl). So yes, I’m planning to go to law school, well at least applying.

My major will be one of two things. International Politics and Economics (a program that allows me to study poly sci, econ, and a language of my choice which will be German) with a French minor, but that is only if I like my econ course next semester. If I don’t I’ll just be a Political Science major and French & German double minor.

My school is weird and grades on a numeric system instead of a letter one, but I’ve converted them here to make things easier:

Biology (with lab): A+
Chemistry (with lab): B+
English Composition: A
Statistics: A-

This comes out to a 3.75 for my first quarter, which I’m pretty happy with. I’m definitely hoping to ace my classes next quarter, especially since they’re a lot easier and stuff I’m interested in to boot.

Another future law school applicant on the board? Welcome to the club!

Finished my Logic final today and have no idea how I did…5 credits of A+ and A’s in everything else (hopefully this includes logic). Almost got an A+ in another 3 credits (government), but I got a 99/100 on my paper when I needed a 100/100. :(

If my school’s website says the deadline for grades to submitted to the registrar is a certain date, what is the likelihood that some professors will submit them before? I know in high school there was a similar deadline and while some teachers waited until the last minute - most posted them beforehand. I know college isn’t the same thing as high school, but the deadline is after Christmas, and not knowing my grades for this semester will stress me out - which will suck, since I’ll be on vacation out of state.

@preamble1776‌ posted at 5:20am. I can’t judge considering it’s 6:41am atm. Finals week turn us both nocturnal, or did you wake up early?

@Vctory - LOL, I wake up pretty early everyday, but I have an 8am final, so I decided to wake up at 5, since my commute is both long and unpredictable. Did you stay up all night? I can’t do all nighters (physically), I’m more of a “go to sleep and then wake up at 4am to finish” person.

@preamble1776‌ - Most professors will probably have the grades finalized before Christmas break, but some will probably use the break to grade papers.

That sucks that you might have to wait until after Christmas. I want to know before the holiday so that I can stop worrying.

@preamble1776‌ sleep is for the weak

I’m pretty disappointed with my grades. Maybe I’m being too hard on myself, but it’s a big drop from what I had in high school.

@Violet1996‌ Then I’m hella weak because I take naps everyday.

I had a final at 8am today - I finished at 11. From 11am to 7pm, I sat in the library working on my Religious Studies take home final. I ended up typing 24 pages, single spaced. My brain is literal mashed potatoes. I have tomorrow off, though, so that’s good.

In other news - I have one assignment left. A 6 page research paper. There are just 6 pages between me and winter break. I’m so excited.

Do any of you all have any idea of possible majors?

@TinnyT – What do you mean? I read that question like 4 times and I’m still confused. Finals fried my brain.

@dextrous - I’m sure you’re not doing that poorly. First semester is rough for a lot of people - especially top students who are used to perfect grades with ease.

I declared myself a math major at the end of last week.
