College Class 2018

I agree with this 100%. I went to my high school yesterday and I said hi to a few people and left. I saw too many kids. I don’t miss any of them except for my select senior friends. College already is 10x better than high school.

@TinnyT - Is your college like a winter wonderland around this time of the year? My family always goes to northern New Hampshire for Christmas break and we swing by VT for breakfast on Christmas morning (I believe the restaurant is near Middlebury). So pretty. Life in Vermont seems so… simple. I love it.

@Violet1996, that sounds fun.

So true. Even though this semester has been rough for me.

Coming back home made me realize how much I hated high school.

My high school changed, it seems, from the time I was a freshman up until recently. When I was a freshman and sophomore, high school was fun; we were treated like adults. As junior year progressed and senior year came along, my high school became a bigger version of our middle school. The teachers and administration started “cracking down,” so all the fun stopped. I got that same vibe when I was there yesterday.

There was an 8 person melee in my high school today (yesterday?) that made DC/Baltimore news yesterday due to the lockdown so they could arrest a few dozen people…safe to say I don’t really miss it.

On the bright side, I can finally stop this nocturnal sleep schedule and start sleeping like a real person again. Last final in 3 hours! Bring it on! Need to get a 95% to maintain my A+, but I’m optimistic! Been awake studying since ~8pm.

I’m so happy! I got a 98% on my final English essay and a 100% on the revision project. My overall grade is a 97%. So, so happy

@preamble1776‌ Yes. All of finals week it was snowing and it was beautiful. People went sledding down the hills and some people started skiing their way around. Vermont life does seem very simple. I wouldn’t know completely because we are trapped in our bubble, but from the times I’ve escaped it everything seems so easy. All the shops and stores people need are right there. No complication and most people are friendly. According to upperclassmen though, January is when we really experience Vermont winter so I’m excited for that.

Yay, as long as I didn’t completely bomb my other humanities class final, I think I have at least a 3.2 GPA, not like 1.5 that I was imagining. I guess this is the best I could hope for, given that I missed pretty much the entire second half of the semester due to health reasons.

I’m actually eager to go back to school in January. I always dreaded the end of Christmas break during my years in high school, but I’m looking forward to what next semester has to offer.

Me too. I’m excited to go back to school in two weeks. I’m currently really bored. January will be extremely fun! Also second semester will be exciting because I’ll be learning a new language.

Anyone doing anything interesting over break? I really want to take the opportunity to do something cool and worthwhile since there’s so much free time. I’m considering trying to teach myself something new (an instrument, sign language, origami, dance moves, or just something to show off when back in college)

It’s really about motivating yourself to start though

Interesting, no. I have to take three physics classes and a chemistry class for my degree, so I’m trying to study these subjects because my school offers proficiency exams every spring so you can get credit for the classes without taking them. I don’t know if I’ll be prepared to take any this year, though.

It took a really long time for my grades to be posted, but I got straight As this semester. :)

Ugh, my winter break is for a month. Yeah, currently I’m bored. I’m not really doing anything interesting, though I plan to. I am hoping to work on scholarships so that I can pay for some of my expenses on my own, write enough stuff that if I get busy during next semester, I can still post stuff on a blog I’m starting every day, and do a CS side project totally unrelated to my coursework – probably something with design aspects. Oh and catch up on reading some books people’ve recommended to me. Ok… that’s kind of a lot, I think… Well, I’ve at least started on 3/4 of those things so I guess that’s good.

@quidditchcat‌ I <3 the programmers on my floor. I hope you have a better semester, a new year is a time for new beginnings!

Just got my grades and I passed all my classes!!! I got an A in Hebrew, A- in Math and Writing, a C in Chem, and a C- in Chem lab, but I passed and now its over and I can relax. I’ve visited my high school like 3 times already. It was really nice actually.

Awkward moment when your newest life goal is to go to medical school… but you also want a BS in computer engineering. #dead

I’m not doing too much this break. Finishing up work for a class that I have an incomplete in, looking for internship opportunities, hanging out with friends… I’ve gone out every night that I’ve been back except for yesterday, and I’ve been here since Thursday. I’m also taking guitar lessons and maybe a voice lesson or two with my old voice teacher (I’m trying out for chorus next semester and need an audition song).

I’ve also started a “radical self love” blog on Tumblr. & I’ve decided to get a tattoo once I get back to Providence.

@shawnspencer‌ I’m getting a jump start on my classes w/ MIT’s OpenCourseWare thing and the KhanAcademy, but that’s about it.

All grades are in except mock trial. Poli sci methods A+, Criminal justice A+, Logic A+, Psychology and Ethics (1 cred) A+, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (1 cred) A+, Journalism A (prof doesn’t give A+'s). No idea how, but I think I somehow maxed my grades. Hopefully I get an A in mock trial as well, but I’ve heard a rumor my professor gives A-'s to underclassmen. It’s harder since there aren’t any tests or assignments…it’s all subjective.

Provided I get an A in mock,
4.0 UMD
4.21 LSDAS (law school admissions recalculation)

My schedule for spring should be finalized on January 5th. I have to wait one week before the semester begins to schedule online classes at my university, which is annoying. I should be able to get the class I want, so my schedule should be Tuesday/Thursday only. I’m taking an educational psychology class, and I’m looking forward to that because it has to deal with my major. I’m also taking speech, which I am interested to see how it will turn out. My one friend is panicked about it. I’m also taking a music class, which I think will be interesting. I am taking a biological science and an art class online, so it shouldn’t be too bad. The reviews on RMP for my bi sci professor are positive, so I am praying that it is a very non-technical science class.

Overall, my classes seem to be more interesting than this past semester’s classes.
